Harmonious is a new nighttime spectacular coming to Walt Disney World’s EPCOT!

Harmonious is one element joining several others that will ultimately make up the historical transformation of the park. And when it debuts, Disney has shared that Harmonious will deliver one of the largest spectaculars ever created for a Disney park!

Harmonious — The Production

Five huge floating set pieces will house special effects for the production, which will include custom-built LED panels, choreographed moving fountains, lights and lasers, and pyrotechnics.

These platforms will also support a six-story tall structure as well as four 25-foot tall LED screens and 54-foot long moving arms.

The effects will play such a huge role that a representative from Disney says they refer to the effects as “characters” that will come to life. (You can hear more in the video at the bottom of this page.)

In addition to what is sure to be a remarkable visual presentation complete with Disney images featuring beloved characters, Harmonious will also incorporate Disney music with classic songs reinterpreted and presented by diverse cultural musicians from around the world in keeping with the international celebration that is EPCOT’s World Showcase.

Ultimately, the show will “celebrate how the music of Disney inspires people the world over.”

Disney shares that Harmonious is “a transformative experience, where we can discover how Disney music has the power to inspire and unite us all with the magic of possibility.”

Harmonious — The Fountains

While Harmonious will really shine during the night, a true BONUS is that there will be FOUNTAINS in World Showcase Lagoon during the day thanks to the production!

These will greatly add to the atmosphere of the already-stunning World Showcase, no matter what time of day you visit!

Harmonious Construction

We have been keeping a close eye on World Showcase Lagoon for signs of Harmonious construction since the beginning.

Harmonious is coming to EPCOT!

In December 2020, we got our first glimpse of one of the barges for the show, which are also going to help form the water features during the daytime. And in January 2021, the first barge was joined by a second. We also got a peek at a grid one one of the barges that appears to be similar to what is used for projection mapping, the technology which allows Imagineers to precisely map out where a projection will land.

And in February 2021, Disney Imagineer Zach Riddley revealed a behind-the-scenes video about the new nighttime spectacular. This video shares footage of the installment of the “icon show platform,” which includes the 6-story tall icon ring!

And now, here is a photo of the massive new structure as it now stands in World Showcase Lagoon.

Harmonious Barges in place

Harmonious Timeframe

Harmonious was originally scheduled to debut in the spring of 2020; however, due to the closure of the theme parks from mid-March through mid-July 2020, the production has met with delays. Additionally, all fireworks presentations are currently suspended around Disney World in keeping with safety measures in response to the global health situation. A new timeframe for the debut has yet to be announced.

But guests can still get a glimpse of the show now! Walt Disney Imagineering Presents the EPCOT Experience is currently showing in the Odyssey Pavilion in Future World.

This truly unique presentation showcases all of the various elements that will ultimately be part of the transformed park, including Harmonious!
