You may already be aware of several factors that go into planning a Walt Disney World vacation. You’ve likely considered things like the time of year you’d like to visit, which Resort hotel you might stay at, and — most of all — which attractions you’d like to ride in the four Disney World theme parks: Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom!

But there’s something you may not have considered: REFURBISHMENTS and CONSTRUCTION.

From classic rides that have been running since Disney World’s DAY ONE to behind-the-scenes work on upcoming NEW experiences, several locations around the Resort are often receiving a little TLC or even undergoing major construction “for your future enjoyment!”

While the results are usually pretty terrific, some refurbishments may affect your vacation in unexpected ways. What if one of your must-do attractions is under wraps for a little while? Or maybe a major project is in the works at your chosen Resort?

That’s why we’re offering this resource so you can be informed of current, ongoing, and upcoming refurbishments and construction around Walt Disney World.

Magic Kingdom

Current Closures

• The Frontierland Station for the Walt Disney World Railroad closed on July 7th, 2025 to accommodate construction in the land. The Fantasyland and Main Street, U.S.A. Stations remain operational in “shuttle mode.”
• Big Top Souvenirs and Big Top Treats closed on February 20th, 2026 and is expected to “reopen for guests to enjoy later this year.”
• July 6th, 2026: Magic Kingdom’s Carousel of Progress closed to make major updates to the attraction. It is expected to reopen in 2027.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios

• Vacation Fun will not be showing starting August 9th as the Mickey Shorts Theater hosts a Magnet Distribution for Disney World Annual Passholders. It will reopen later this year. 
• Animation Courtyard closed in Disney’s Hollywood Studios in 2025 to may way for a new land and attraction: The Walt Disney Studios courtyard opened on May 26th, 2026. The attraction, The Magic of Disney Animation, which will be housed in the new area, will open on September 14th, 2026.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Permanent Closures

• DinoLand, U.S.A. permanently closed in Disney’s Animal Kingdom on February 2nd, 2026 to accommodate construction for the new Tropical Americas land, Pueblo Esperanza.

Disney’s All-Star Resorts

• From January 2026 until late April 2026, the Surfboard Bay Pool and the kiddie pool at All-Star Sports Resort is closed for regular maintenance. During that time, the Grand Slam Leisure Pool will continue to be available. Also, guests of All-Star Sports are welcome to visit the pools at the other two All-Star Resorts.
• Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort is undergoing refurbishment for its rooms as of late May 2026, and the work is scheduled to run through the end of January 2027. Disney says guests staying during the refurbishment may see or hear construction work, and alternate paths of travel may be in place at times.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge

• The guest rooms at Jambo House are being refurbished from May 2026 through January 2027.
• Beginning August 17th, the lobby and nearby areas at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge – Kidani Village will undergo refurbishment in phases, which are as follows:
  • August 17th-October 9th: The main lobby and primary entrance will be closed. Check-in will move to the Palace Library during this time.
  • August 17th-28th: The merchandise location, Johari Treasures, will be closed.
  • September 28th-October 9th: The north side lobby corridor will be closed. During this time, the north side lobby elevators on the second floor and the outdoor terrace observation deck will be unavailable.
  • October 26th-November 6th: The south side lobby corridor will be closed. During this time, Community Hall, Safari So Good Arcade, the laundry room, the Palace Library, lobby restrooms, and the outdoor terrace observation deck will be unavailable.

Disney’s BoardWalk Inn

• The Village Green area of Disney’s BoardWalk Inn will be inaccessible from August 10th through September 4th. This is the spot where you would normally watch Movie Under The Stars, do yoga, attend arts and crafts classes, and more. While the Village Green is closed, those other activities will be moved to other areas of the hotel. You’ll want to ask a Cast Member for information, but we also expect that the locations will be listed on the hotel’s activity guide, and you may even see signs at the hotel pointing you in the right direction for those activities.
• Disney’s BoardWalk Inn plays hosts to several shops and restaurants, and late 2026 will see the addition of a new lounge called Hurly-Burly, presenting nighttime entertainment for adults and family-friendly activities in the daytime. 
• Disney’s BoardWalk Inn will have multiple parts of its resort under construction in 2027. The following is closed for routine maintenance at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn from January 11th, 2027 through April 2027: the Luna Park Pool, the Luna Park Crazy Play Area, and Leaping Horse Libations.

Disney’s Contemporary Resort

Current Refurbishment

• Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort is undergoing a lengthy refurbishment from September 2024 through late 2027. While the resort is still available to book during these times, rooms may be limited. Disney also warns that guests will see and hear construction work in select areas of Bay Lake Tower. You’ll also want to allow extra time for travel as the typical routes may not be open.

Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort

• From August 10th, 2026 to late September 2027, the Convention Center at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort will undergo a planned refurbishment. The El Centro Corridor and surrounding areas will also undergo a refurbishment. The work will be completed in phases, with individual spaces temporarily inaccessible at times. The work will take place overnight to help minimize impacts to daily operations, and during this time, guests may see or hear construction activity in the area.

Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge

• A NEW Disney Vacation Club Resort hotel will be opening in Disney World in the summer of 2027: Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge! This Magic Kingdom area Resort is currently under construction on Disney World’s Bay Lake. 

Disney’s Old Key West Resort

• At Disney’s Old Key West Resort, the South Point Pool and Spa, the adjacent barbecue area, and playground will be closed for “routine maintenance” in late April. That means that hotel guests might see or hear construction noise during daytime hours. Those guests are also invited to use the Sandcastle Pool at the resort or one of the other two leisure pools, the Turtle Pond Pool and Miller’s Road Pool.
• Refurbishment work is taking place along the Sassagoula River Cruise boat route from Monday, July 20th, 2026 through early August. During this time, boat service to Disney Springs will be temporarily unavailable, but you can still take the Disney buses to get there instead.

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

• On Disney’s website, they shared that “some areas of Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort and Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows are being refurbished through 2026″. Guests may see and hear some daytime construction, starting at 9:00 AM. Construction at hotels can cause some headaches with loud noises, eye sores, and even things not accessible.  Additionally, “some views of the theme parks and other surrounding areas may be impacted.”
• Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace is currently closed for refurbishment through late October 2026. (Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto, located indoors, remains open.)

Disney’s Port Orleans Resort — Riverside

• Disney’s Port Orleans Resort — Riverside is refurbishing the guest rooms in the Magnolia Bend area of the resort from early May 2025 through August 2027. While the refurbishment is happening, guests might hear and see construction work during daytime hours. .

Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort

• From now through mid-September 2026, refurbishment work will take place in phases at Saratoga Springs Resort, including refurbishments for the Treehouse Villas. Additionally, areas of the Port Cochere (the covered front entrance to the hotel) will be undergoing refurbishment through Fall 2026.If you’re staying at the resort, you may see or hear construction work during the daytime hours.
• The Turf Club Bar & Grill will temporarily close on August 31st; it is expected to reopen on September 30th, 2026.

Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club Resorts

• For the Beach Club, there is routine exterior maintenance taking place through late 2027. However, all services, including valet, luggage assistance, and transportation, will remain available, and you’ll still have access to most of the hotel’s amenities.
• Disney’s Yacht Club is also undergoing exterior maintenance through late 2026. However, all services, including valet, luggage assistance, and transportation remain available, and you’ll still have access to most of the hotel’s amenities.
• The Yacht Club’s Yachtman’s Steakhouse is temporarily closed as of May 11th for a refresh. It is anticipated to reopen on August 28th, 2026.
• From August 17th-21st, 2026, the FriendShip Boat dock at the Yacht & Beach Club will be closed for maintenance. During the closure, direct bus transportation will be available to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and you can use the nearby walkways to get to EPCOT. If you’d like, you can also walk to EPCOT and then take the Disney Skyliner to Hollywood Studios if you’d like to avoid the bus.

Disney World Transportation

• From January 24th through 30th, 2027 the Disney Skyliner will be closed for refurbishment.

Disney World Golf

• Lake Buena Vista Golf Course is closed through fall of 2026 for renovations, and Disney shares that “The greens will be fully renovated with newly reimagined contouring and elevations,” along with other improvements. Disney’s Magnolia Golf Course and Disney’s Palm Golf Course remain open for play.
