Liberty Tree Tavern is, I must admit, one of my favorite restaurants in Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom.

The meal, served family-style, is both hearty and plentiful. Many guests like to refer to it as “Thanksgiving all year” thanks to the Patriot’s Platter, which serves up all-you-care-to-enjoy roasted turkey, pot roast, and oven-roasted pork served with mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, seasonal veggies, and herb stuffing. (A plant-based version of this meal and allergy-friendly options are also available.) Dessert is included as well, featuring the spot’s signature Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake… one of our favorite desserts in all of Disney World!

The Atmosphere at Liberty Tree Tavern
Themed after a late 18th-century home, the restaurant is divided into different rooms decorated to reflect famous names from the United States’ Revolutionary period, including Benjamin Franklin, Betsy Ross, George Washington, and Thomas Jefferson.
The colonial vibe will follow you inside. It’s rustic with lots of wooden touches everywhere. We think it’s downright cozy. The waiting area features a beautiful chandelier (with “candles”), a fireplace, and a balcony.

This Disney World restaurant is a must-visit if you…
- Need a break from the hustle and bustle of the theme park. Liberty Tree Tavern is a nice and quiet spot. The lighting is subdued, but not so dark that you can’t read the menu. This is a great spot to enjoy some air conditioning away from the chaos that can be Magic Kingdom on a busy day. Take a break and get off your feet for a while – it feels SO GOOD.
- Want to see why everyone raves about the Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake. Let’s be honest: we’re probably here 85% for the dessert, and 15% for the rest of the meal. That Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake is HEAVENLY. We know it can be tempting to fill up on Pot Roast and Mac & Cheese, but you simply MUST save room for dessert. Dare we say it’s the best part of the whole experience?
- Can work up a big appetite. This meal is basically a full Thanksgiving feast. It’s also a traditional family-style dinner, meaning you can go back for seconds (or even thirds) if you want. This is the place for diners who are proud members of the Clean Plate Club – if you prefer a light meal, on the other hand, this probably isn’t the place for you.
You should skip this Disney World spot if you…
- Feel nauseous at the thought of a hot, heavy meal in the middle of your park day. Like we said, you’re getting roasted turkey, pot roast, and oven-roasted pork. Don’t expect a light fish or a lettuce wrap at this restaurant. The food is heavy, and we don’t recommend a ride on Space Mountain directly after dinner at Liberty Tree Tavern.
- Prefer soft, comfortable seating. This restaurant is designed to look like a stately colonial-style inn. That means the tables and chairs are, well, a little hard. You won’t find any plush chairs or booth seating at this restaurant, so if that’s a big turn-off, this could be worth skipping.
- Want an elegant or elevated dining experience. For the price, you might anticipate a more upscale dining experience. We’ll be honest – the vibe here is traditional, historical, and a little stuffy. If you’re, say, celebrating a big anniversary or trying to have a romantic dinner, this probably isn’t the place for you.

- Check out the fun decor in each room; you can tell who the room is themed after by looking at the photos on the walls.
- Dinner is served family-style here, meaning food is brought out on platters and in serving dishes so everyone can serve themselves.
- Though Liberty Tree Tavern used to feature characters dressed in period garb, it has not offered character dining since 2009.
- Liberty Tree Tavern offers Mobile Dine Check-In.
- You may find last-minute availability for the Liberty Tree Tavern on the Mobile Dine Walk-up Waitlist.
- Annual Passholders, Disney Visa Cardholders, and Disney Vacation Club Members should inquire about a discount.
