Let’s face it: sometimes it’s just nice to bring a little bit of Disney home with you to help you get over those post-Disney blues! And if you have a handful of Disney Dining Plan snack credits left over at the end of your Disney World trip or you’ve got friends and family you’d like to surprise with a treat, Disney foods make some terrific souvenirs!
Dining in Disneyland: St. Patrick’s Day Treats
Dining in Disneyland columnist Heather Sievers is scouting the parks and Downtown Disney for some St. Patrick’s Day treats!
St. Patrick’s Day is just around the corner and Disneyland has a few treats to help you get into the spirit o’ the green. Check out this yummy fun from Marceline’s & The Blue Ribbon Bakery.
And over at the Blue Ribbon Bakery, check out these yummy, green [Read more…]
Stuff That’s Rad: Disney Gummy Kabobs
Another thing that’s rad from Dining in Disneyland columnist Heather Sievers!!
Just recently I was at The Candy Palace on Main Street in Disneyland when these adorable gummy kabobs caught my eye. My boys were not with me, so as a little surprise treat, I picked up 2 of the Fab 5 Disney character ones that include Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Donald & Goofy in that order from top to bottom.
Each character is its own piece, so there are actually 5 pieces skewered on the stick. On our next visit, I found the Pixar gummy kabobs at Marceline’s in Downtown Disney. Its characters include Woody, Buzz, Mike Wizoski, Dori & Nemo in that order from top to bottom. Looking closely at these you will notice the [Read more…]
Snack Series: Cheddar Mickey Crackers
Dining in Disneyland columnist Heather Sievers is back with a review of the Chip and Dale Snack Company’s Cheddar Mickey Crackers! These can be found in WDW and Disneyland…
On our recent Disney Vacation Club stay at the Grand Californian, the DVC left us a “hospitality” basket in our room for some issues (long story, let’s just talk snacks) that had happened during our last stay. Anyhow, what a nice surprise…
In our beautiful basket there were lots and lots of snacks. One that we had never purchased or tried before were the Cheddar Mickey Crackers by the Chip & Dale Snack Company. Today, we ripped open the resealable bag and went to town on them. My first impression was [Read more…]
Snack Series: Contempo Cafe’s Black Forest Cupcake
A couple of months ago I got an email from a reader — Callie Shrekengost — urging me to try the Black Forest Cupcake at Contemporary Resort’s Contempo Cafe in Disney World. I’d seen the cupcake before, but hadn’t ever had the stomach space at the time to try it; so I was grateful to get her reminder and put it on my To-Do list for the October trip!
So, here we have a chocolate cupcake topped with swirls of vanilla buttercream frosting. The thing is simply massive — ginormous — and could easily be shared! On the very tippy top of the cupcake is a [Read more…]
Tigger Tails vs. Tiger Tails
This is one of the fun posts I promised in my last Newsletter, and I’m pretty excited to explore the intricate differences between these two Disney favorites!
Disney World and Disneyland both have some great signature food items — Dole Whips, Mickey Premium Bars, popcorn, pretzels… but only Disneyland has Tiger Tails AND Tigger Tails! Now, the names can get confusing, so let’s check out how to tell them apart ;-):
Tigger Tails
If you like marshmallows, caramel, and chocolate — this is the treat for you. Named after everyone’s favorite bounceriffic tiger, Tigger, these treats are homemade in Disneyland’s Pooh Corner!
Now, I’ll be honest and say that I’m not a HUGE marshmallow fan. I like them best when they’re toasted and smushed between chocolate and graham crackers or spread between bread with some gooey peanut butter in a fluffernutter, so I wasn’t really expecting to like the Tigger Tail all that much. After all, it’s [Read more…]
Chocolate-Covered Peanut Butter Sandwich
Now, you know I don’t post on Saturdays if I can help it, but I was much too much craving this little sandwich to not tell you all about it.
Graham crackers. Peanut Butter. Chocolate.
That’s really all you need to know, but I’ll expound.
This particular little sandwich was found at Pooh Corner in Disneyland, which really is the heart of all things sweet and wonderful in Critter Country. You can find them all over Disneyland, though; so pop into any candy shop. Sadly these have been discontinued in Disney World, where you can only find the s’mores version now.
Basically, you start with a graham cracker, pile half an inch of peanut butter on top (the good, sugary, stand-up-on-its-own kind of peanut butter, too — not that creamy stuff you put on toast and celery), then smother the whole thing in a ton of milk chocolate. Wondering why it’s called a sandwich when there isn’t a second graham cracker? Me, too. But I didn’t see one in the photo. Do you?
Anyway, I think we can all agree that We Love Pooh for this one, right?
Have a great weekend! See you tomorrow for the Disney Food Post Round-Up!
Managing Your Diet Plan in Disney World: Low-Carb Diets
One thing I haven’t been able to master is staying on a specialized diet plan in Disney World. Luckily, I have a few friends who
have been able to be diet plan superstars while on vacation, and they’ve agreed to share some of their secrets with you! This series will include information about vegetarian, vegan, and low-carb dining, as well as dining in Disney World after having weight loss surgery.
Today, we welcome guest author Christina Relacion again to the food blog. She’s been successful with the South Beach low-carb diet in Disney World and has some great tips and tricks!
Healthy dining at Walt Disney World. That sounds like an oxymoron. With fried foods, hamburgers and devilish desserts around every corner, it must be impossible. I’m always trying to watch my weight, and being a foodie, that can be hard with all the great choices at home and on the road, especially at a place like Walt Disney World.
Last year, I started on the South Beach Diet, a diet plan created by Arthur Agatston that helps you determine good carbs from bad carbs and good fats from bad fats. One of the first things I thought of when beginning the diet was: [Read more…]
A New Kind of Rice Krispies Treat Pops Up at Disney World
Thanks to my blogger buddy, Suzannah (of Zannaland.com), for sending along this new Magic Kingdom treat! Apparently, Mickey Mouse-shaped Rice Krispies Treats (or Crisped Rice Treats) aren’t enough for Disney fans anymore! Disney’s introduced what look like Rice Krispies Balls!
These bite-sized treats are being sold by the bagged-up-bunch in the Main Street Confectionery! You can even buy them decorated and drizzled with chocolate — yum!
Looks like a GREAT way to share this yummy treat between family members without having to buy everyone their very own Rice Krispies Treat Mickey bar. Good for the wallet AND the waistline. ;-D
“You Won’t Believe This!” Snack: White Chocolate Chip Brownie
We’re back with another delectable treat from Starring Rolls Cafe! I wish we had Smell-o-‘Puter, because these White Chocolate Chip Brownies are a-maz-ing.

This brownie is about the size of my fist (and I have monster giant hands), so the thing is massive — easily the size of two regular pan brownies. And while it’s not as “fancy schmancy” as some of the other “You Won’t Believe This!” Snacks, the pure chocolate taste will wow the dedicated chocoholics and sugar-fiends out there.
Once I carted the brownie out to the table at Starring Rolls, I had to [Read more…]
