Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe: Angus burger topped with Cheddar cheese, guacamole and bacon.
Epcot
Liberty Inn:
1. Veggie burger with Monterey Jack cheese, avocado, tomato and lettuce
2. Angus burger topped with smoked ham, bacon, smoked Gouda cheese, red onion, tomato, pickle, lettuce and mustard aioli sauce.
Electric Umbrella: Mushroom-blue burger with sautéed mushrooms, bacon, blue cheese, fried onion straws, lettuce and tomato.

ABC Commissary: Surf ‘n turf burger — a cheddar cheeseburger topped with fried shrimp, a sweet onion ring, tomato, pickle, lettuce and a special sauce.

Backlot Express: Cheddar cheeseburger topped with diced avocado, sweet onion ring, lettuce, tomato and special sauce.

Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort: Caribbean burger topped with sweet plaintains, fried onion straws and pineapple barbecue chutney.

Yum! This might actually give me a reason to go the Electric Umbrella! The blue cheese burger sounds great!
It’s funny but in 28 years of visits I have never eaten a hamburger at WDW. I love them, but they are too easy to make at home or get in the local restaurants. But some of these do look good.
We do go off property to get Krystal’s burger once in a while. Not gourmet, but I grew up on White Castles in NY when I was a kid. North Carolina where I live is too far south for those and a little too far north for Krystal’s so we grab some when in Fla.
I know what ill be doing this weekend 🙂
The Caribbean burger looks amazing! Definitely going to try that one.

Are most of these the same old patties that they use on the regular burgers? If so, count me out. I agree with the guys over at WDW Today that the Disney patties have declined in quality a great deal over the past few years. Then this would be akin to putting artisan cheese in a Wonderbread sandwich.
Now, if these are all new or hand packed patties using quality beef I’m all in on trying some.
My sister and I got to visit in December and tried a few of them. It was a huge imporovement on the standard Disney burger. Also We are both vegetarian and they made the “designer” burger on the veggie patty for us, we just took off bacon on the one. It was an awesome treat to have that and not just the standard veggie burger!
I noticed some of these on the last trip in November and tried the one at the Commissary. It was good… not great, but good. That’s not a bad thing… huge improvement. I hope this means we’ll see more options and improvements in counter service options in the future.

Corrie – thx for the tip about the veg burgers. I’m vegetarian, too and was hoping to skid by w/o eating any veggie burgers, but may change mind now.

Chris, good question. The pictures seem to indicate a multi grain bun. However if they are continuing to use the crumbly whole wheat variety than that ruins the experience.
As I shared with AJ when I found this info, I pride myself in going to WDW for a whole week without ever eating a burger (for the same reasons that Alan stated.) I may now need to break my rule for one of those PO-FQ shrimp and remoulade burgers!
Chris, you took the question right out of my mouth! Seems like our friends at Disney Dining just decreed a few years back that our junk food needed to be healthier and switched out the soft, whipped paste white buns for the dry and crumbly wheat buns we now find at almost all WDW quick service locations.
I find it hilarious that they are suddenly offering 1/3 pound burgers with things like fried shrimp and fried potatoes and cheese and bacon (all good things in my book, by the way!) and then serving it on a so-called healthy choice bun.
It’s like ordering a big mac meal at WacArnold’s with a diet coke. Wahahaaaa!
I like how some of the burgers are themed to where they belong. That shows that they are paying attention to the food, but also the details when creating these items.
I’ve actually heard from a family that brought their own bread buns to Disney. Sounds a little silly, but I might just do that on our next trip…
AJ… you have to try a Krystal burger with cheese… they are awesome! Also try a Krystal chick… they too are awesome! 🙂
I tried the surf n’ turf at ABC. The fried shrimp were good, but the burger was disgusting. It was clearly an hour or two old, and when I asked for a new and fresh one I was told no by the cast members. I’m sure the burger would have been fine if fresh, but beware heating lamps and counter service in the Studios! I also didn’t like the fact that there was no option for just a burger (no shrimp).
Pecos Bill’s is still my favorite burger in WDW, although the lobster burger at the Grand Floridian Cafe and the burgers at Beaches & Cream are great too.
wow.. they all look good especially the ones with avocado / guacamole… now i am really not happy about missing my disney trip this year( we are haveing our second daughter in a couple of weeks) hopefully when we return in 2012 they will still be there…
The angus burger at Liberty Inn sounds good. I try not to eat burgers and take advantage of offerings I can’t get just anywhere when I’m at WDW. If I’m in World Showcase, I’m eating at France! However, if I find myself craving a burger on my next trip, I’ll seek out the Liberty Inn.
Last time I was at Disney Hollywood Studios (July), there was a hungry, grouchy six year old with us nearing meltdown outside of ABC Commissary. (No issues the rest of the trip – for some reason, at that point in time, she just couldn’t cope.) Instead of going to Starring Rolls or Backlot Express, I gave in because we needed to get some food in her and give her a chance to rest. The burger was the worst of any food we had during our eight days at WDW and half our party didn’t even finish. I’m not sure a special sauce and a couple of fried shrimp on top will be enough of an improvement.
Hmmm… these burgers look good. I might have to try one while I’m at WDW in February. Disneyland started selling 1/3 lb angus burgers at the Tomorrowland Terrace but I don’t think they’re calling them designer burgers at Disneyland. I’ll need to compare to see which tastes better.
What I would LOVE to see are turkey burgers as well. Not all of us like beef. Not all of us need the fat in ground beef. This turkey wannabe sliders at Pollo Campero have much to be desired. Too much (albeit very tasty) bun and meat that gets lost in the toppings as it is so thin. It it the one thing I absolutely crave while at Disney….burgers.
My Sister and I are on our way to the Flower and Garden Show in March. Both of us are hamburger lovers. So happy about the new burgers at Epcot and our favorite money saving hotel POP CENTURY. The quick service meal plan will surely pay off this time. WE ARE EXCITED.
Haven’t had many burgers at Disney World but the burger at Beaches and Cream (Beach Club)would be hard to beat!
I made a suprise trip to Disney last week for 1 day.. we ate at Cosmic Rays.. had the new burger it was really good, i have put avacado on my burgers for awile now and i was not disapointed… cant wait to try some of the others…
