It’s time for more 2011 Epcot Food and Wine Festival booth food pictures!

Today, let’s take an in-depth look at Portugal and Scandinavia!
Portugal
A brand new booth this year, Portugal brings some very different tastes to the Festival. We started out with the calamari salad with fennel, olive oil, and smoked paprika. The flavor here mostly comes from the fennel and olive oil, but the dish is unlike any other at the Festival!

The Pastel de Nata in Portugal is a fun and unique dessert. Basically a custard in a crust, the simple, light flavors tasted like vanilla to me! Definitely worth a try.

The Linguica Sausage with onions, peppers, and olives (mostly olives…) was outstanding. A super-spicy sausage accented with delicious flavors from the vegetables made for a hearty and savory dish. This was my favorite from Portugal.

Scandinavia
Scandinavia is returning this year after a hiatus at the festival, and brings us some cold-weather favorites! The Swedish meatballs with lingon berries (yay, lingon berries!!) was a winner for me. I liked the sweet paired with the savory in this dish.

But the rice pudding with berries was outstanding! My favorite item at this booth, hands down, was this dessert. Very creamy, with a depth a flavor you wouldn’t expect. The interesting textures made for a unique dish. Yum!!

The Taste of Scandinavia was my least favorite dish here, as I imagine it will be for most folks. Cold fish and shrimp just didn’t make my taste buds shiver…

Luckily, I followed up with the Xante Sunshine cocktail, featuring Xante pear and cognac liquor. This sweet cocktail — with a touch of tartness — was delicious.

looks good the Pastel de Nata is my FAVORITE portugese dessert.. i could eat them by the dozen…
Taste of Scandinavia would be my first choice out of all the foods pictured. I love me some cured salmon and pickled herring! No trip to Ikea is complete without buying a jar of some sort of cured fish!!!
The Pastel de Nata is on my list of things to try this year. Looks scrumptious!
I want to try the swedish meatballs. The Xante cocktail sounds good too.
My lifetime in a Swedish Lutheran church has lead me to see Swedish meatballs with lingon berries as pot luck supper food. Once a month we would gather in Luther Hall and feast on a bounty of 45 varieties of meatballs. We were one lutkefisk away from being in Lake Wobegon.
I’m going to try the Swedish meatballs anyway. I have a lot to compare them too. The other one from this list I’m going for is the Pastel de Nata. Vanilla custard in a crust – count me in!

I agree with “Watch Me Eat” – the taste of Scandinavia would be my first choice too!! Swedish meatballs are ho hum (good, but just not exciting) while the herring and shrimp salads are hard to find and to die for! Can’t WAIT to get some in about 9 days! Woo hooo! Thanks for the pics and reviews though – it all looks amazing. 🙂

I agree with Watch Me Eat… the taste of Scandinavia dish looks like the most appetizing to me, by far.
To dismiss it simply as “cold fish and shrimp” is like describing a fine piece of prosciutto as cold pork!
I’m super excited to try the calamari and the sausage from Portugal–I think I could take or leave Scandinavia
I loved that rice pudding, too! Definitely a surprisingly good dessert. I liked the Swedish meatballs too, but was told by someone familiar with the dish that it wasn’t authentically flavored. They described it as tasting like Thanksgiving … not that there’s anything wrong with that!
The food overall has been outstanding, as always. I wish Disney would add an “all you can eat” option, where you pay one price and get unlimited dishes. But I can imagine they’d lose out on too many potential individual sales if they did that!
Just returned from the f&w festival…it was awesome. My family is Portuguese and was excited to try Disney’s take on our food. Is there a way to find out who provided the sausages?
