Love Disney history? Well, for a limited time guests at Disneyland will be able to see a piece of Disney history firsthand.
Disneyland is currently restoring the Adventureland marquee and have put up this historic sign in its place!
The Adventureland marquee sign that guests are so accustomed to seeing has been removed as part of a MAJOR Adventureland change. According to The Orange County Register, Disneyland is currently widening Adventureland’s entryway. They are making these changes in hopes that this will help with the congestion that often occurs in the area.
This project called for the “demolition of the existing Adventureland marquee,” but this does not mean that the actual sign will be demolished. Disneyland officials have said that they plan on using as much of the original marquee as possible, and the plan is to replace the sign from the 1990s with one that is almost identical, according to the article.
For the time being, this sign will stand in place of the Adventureland sign we all know and love! What’s interesting about it, you ask? Well, friends, this Adventureland sign used to hang near the Jungle Cruise in the ’60s and ’70s! Pretty groovy, right?
The Adventureland entry will remain open during park hours as construction will be taking place overnight. Disney hopes to have the project completed by May 31, 2019, just in time for the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge! This is just one of many changes Disney is making to make sure they can operate as normal with the high volume of guests that will be in the park during this exciting time!

Love learning these little tidbits! Thanks for sharing!
As a long time Disneyland guest since 1956 and former CM I am feeling mixed emotions on this one. I walked through this archway on my way to Splash Mountain for my shift and plenty of times as a guest. I completely agree that the walkway needs widening but pray they will recreate the former Adventureland sign. And Dole Whips are better at DL then WDW.
Thanks for sharing. These interesting facts about Disney, and the food offered there, keeps me coming back to this website to learn as much as possible about Disney!
@Tine: it would also be great if you stopped shoving your opinion down the bloggers’ throats under *every* article that does not specifically concern food. God, woman.
If you do not like it, go visit another website, but please don’t tell the creators of this blog what to do. They are the experts and they put a lot of effort, money and time in giving their readers all of these updates. You do not get to decide what these people write about. And as a journalist I can tell that these articles are very much read and appreciated, otherwise it would just be a waste of time covering them.
@ all editors: keep up the good work, you make so many people happy on the daily! xx
