Hooray for Hollywood! Let’s see What’s New at Disney’s Hollywood Studios! We’ve got plenty of construction, a few must-have merchandise pieces, and a bagel update. (Yup. A bagel update.)
Disney’s Hollywood Studios Entrance Construction
Hollywood Studios remains a park in transition, and the number of construction walls at the entrance are a guest’s first hint of that. Although the new bus station is open, Disney’s Skyliner station at Hollywood Studios is still a work in progress; plus there are two construction projects at the entrance.
Visible over the construction fence is this structure that we’ve been told by cast members will be an additional bag check. This is preparation for larger crowds (thanks, Galaxy’s Edge!).
Work continues on the roofline, which will mirror the styling of Hollywood Studios’ other entrance-area structures.
There’s new lighting in this area, too.
Signs are also now up in this area. They appear to be standard security screening signs.
Here’s the current a-frame board with screening info for comparison.
The Skyliner Station is a work in progress. We recently got a FIRST LOOK inside the gondolas. Click here to see what it’ll be like to glide through the air over Walt Disney World on the Skyliner!
We spotted some crew members on the roof (and stationary gondolas inside).
Most of the gondolas remain covered in protective plastic wrap, but some doors are exposed, and occasionally an unwrapped gondola makes an appearance.
Looking back toward the station from the entrance, we see lots of exterior activity.
Obviously more painting or cladding will be happening, as well as landscaping.
As we move closer to the entrance, this construction fence is still in place. No official word on what’s happening in this area.
Once inside, guests will be happy to see Mickey and the globe are back atop the Crossroads!
Back in Toy Story Land, Galaxy’s Edge continues to peek through the trees.
Still some cranes and exterior work underway.
We see scaffolding in place, too, as the land readies itself for the August 29 opening!
Back at the Chinese Theater, ropes are still up around the handprint tiles.
Some tiles appear to have fresh marks. No word on what’s going on here, but we’re watching for developments.
This area on Sunset Boulevard in front of Beverly Sunset Boutique by the stairs that used to descend to Starring Rolls had a few tables and chairs. They’re missing at present.
There are still tables in front of the now-closed Starring Rolls.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios Sights
At Walt Disney Presents and in Animation Courtyard, the current promo is for the live-action Aladdin, coming to theaters on May 24, 2019.
These banners feature the titular hero and his Genie.
This framed movie poster has a few more details from the film.

We spotted a Guest Experience Team member across from the entrance to Star Wars: Path of the Jedi. We started seeing these helpful cast members in place last December during the busy holiday season.
Just for fun, we popped by to say hello to Gertie. Say hi, everybody!
Disney’s Hollywood Studios Dining Updates
Not much happening in the world of Hollywood Studios dining. Over at Trolley Car Cafe, a cast member tells us that bagels have been so popular lately, they’re now going to be available until later in the day.
And at quick service locations throughout the park, we found paper straws in the dispensers.
Click here to see what the paper straw situation is like at Epcot, and click here for our update from Magic Kingdom.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios Merchandise
We found a few clever new shirts in the stores of Hollywood Studios (we also saw these in Disneyland!). We… definitely need this one.
And with Aladdin opening in just under a month, it might be time to declare our “Phenomenal Cosmic Powers”…
…in an itty bitty living space. 😉
Does anyone else remember when Jessica Rabbit had a statue at Hollywood Studios? Now you can get the red head on a tee shirt!
And we just told you about this adorable, creative backpack yesterday: it’s Bo Peep in Loungefly form!
We also found three awesome, new-to-us phone cases. This one celebrates the Most Magical Place on Earth.
For the Star Wars fans: Darth Vader.
Y’all, it’s 3D. We can’t even with this phone case.
And this Madame Leota case has a bonus: a built-in PopSocket!
Disney’s Hollywood Studios Moment of Zen
Maybe it’s just us, but when we’re away from the parks, the little things start to make us sentimental. So for this Moment of Zen: a Times Guide.
Thanks for coming along on our walk-through of What’s New at Disney’s Hollywood Studios!
