As Disney moves forward in eliminating the waste from single-use plastics across the company’s worldwide destinations, we’re noticing more and more changes around the Walt Disney World parks and resorts as part of the initiative.
Just yesterday, we talked about the transition from plastic to paper straws currently taking place at Counter Service restaurants in Magic Kingdom. And today we’re scoping out the straw scene in Epcot, where similar swaps are underway.
We noticed paper straws have replaced plastic primarily in Future World, where we found them at several locations including Fountain View, The Land Cart, Sunshine Seasons, and Electric Umbrella.
On the other hand, in World Showcase, the majority of the spots we stopped at still carry plastic straws.
However, paper straws are now available at Yorkshire County Fish Shop in the UK Pavilion as well as the Canada Popcorn Cart.
So it does seem that World Showcase is in transition as well, and it is likely only a matter of time before rest of the park makes the full transition to paper straws.

Was at WDW a few weeks ago and some places also had the bio plastic type of straws
Thanks, Chris!
Just had my first Starbucks Frappuccino at Epcot with the paper straw. It only lasted through half of my drink. I am not sure how they will make this work for some of the Starbucks drinks.
I received a random paper straw inside a Liberty Inn dispenser, but the rest of my party pulled plastic.
The paper straws make me gag. They remind me of getting xrays at the dentist. We’ve resorted to bringing in our own kids and wrapped straws. I hate having an open cup when I’m walking around for germ reasons and spill reasons plus it’s hard to push a stroller one handed!
Amy, maybe this is the new “see who draws the short straw” — Disney style! 😉
My previous comment should have said “lids” lol. Of course we bring our own kids hahahaha
