Annnnnnd we’re back! Today, we have already shared that Epcot’s Character Spot is set to close temporarily on September 8th. (Don’t worry — you’ll still be able to see your friends in new Epcot spots!)
We have also shared Disney’s plans for the closure of Electric Umbrella this winter. But now we are going to dive into even MORE closure and relocation announcements.
According to the Walt Disney World website, the following locations will be experiencing a few changes as Disney transforms Epcot. You can read more about Epcot’s transformation here!
Mouse Gear
Mouse Gear is a massive merchandise shop in Epcot where you can find just about any piece of Disney merchandise. And “as part of the ongoing transformation of Epcot, Mouse Gear will move to a temporary home this winter while its current location is reimagined.” The temporary location and the official move date has yet to be announced.
Fountain View…aka Starbucks’ Home
Starbucks is also going to be moving to new spot for a while. Disney states,” as part of the ongoing transformation of Epcot, Fountain View featuring Starbucks will relocate to a temporary location in late Fall.”
Pin Central
Pin Central is going to operate from a new location as Disney works their pixie dust refurbishment magic. And ultimately, “the Camera Center will close this fall to become a new home for Pin Central.”
Club Cool
Club Cool is where you can taste different fountain drinks from around the world — FOR FREEEEE! And according to Disney, “Club Cool will close on September 8, 2019. Club Cool will reopen in a new capacity at a future merchandise location.” Hmm… .
Whew!! OK, Disney, we’re ready for the onslaught! What’s next??

I know some of the characters were moved to new locations but the only ones my son was interested in, weren’t mentioned (I think) – has anyone heard anything about Baymax, Joy & Sadness or Ralph & Venelope?
Rene, Disney’s official list of changes only mentioned Joy finding a new location; there was no info about the others you specified, unfortunately.
As long as I can still get my Epcot ‘Been There’ mug from Starbucks. Need to finish my Disney Parks collection. ?
Don’t care much about Starbucks but what about the Fountain of Nations? I’m hoping that isn’t coming down anytime this year.
We found Ralph and Venelope at the Figment exit
How does the character relocation impact the fast pass arrangement. You were able to get one FastPass for Micky, MInnie, and Goofy. With the 3 characters split, will you have to 3 separate fastpasses? Another Disney ploy to dilute the FastPasses?
Bummer about Club Cool! I recommend it to everyone going to EPCOT. Most of my friends never realized it was there but always thank me for recommending it. I’m going to miss it.
Club Cool?! But we have a tradition of forcing our reticent teenagers to drink Beverly on every trip! Whatever will we do now?
Its worse they are ripping out the original fountain of nations for more beer and alcohol sales, its all disney cares about anymore and essentially turning this park into just another disney springs. and thats just the start of the problems, such a shame disney.
I’m very disappointed to hear about the refurbishment to Mouse Gear. It’s my favorite gift shop in all of WDW. I hope they don’t copy what they did to World of Disney in Disney Springs. I don’t like the setup there at all.
Mickey, so far there’s been no clarification on this. When we find out, we’ll update.
Rene, Ralph and Vanellope are meeting near the exit of ImageWorks these days! (They’re on the Times Guide, too, if you’re looking for them someday!)
I like of all these that the closure of Fountain of Nations really bothers me the most. It’s such a beautiful structure and an iconic fixture now at Epcot. Why change it?
the fountain of nations is by far the worst casualty in these announcements. i sincerely hope disney listens and makes the new entrance plaza fountain on the same level with choreographed fountains, and has a rededication with the water from all the nations like opening day.
Disney needs to realize that a lot of guests are nostalgic. While additions are welcome, changing the old should be done carefully? I also hated World of Disney new set up! Each time I go to Disney I feel like it’s losing something. ?
