We’re back at Disney’s Animal Kingdom to explore the trails (inside merchandise shops) and appreciate the nature (of menu changes). Some come along, and explore with us as we discover What’s New!
What’s New in Animal Kingdom Menu Updates and Eats
First, it’s gettin’ hot out there, so we’re going to pop into Zuri’s Sweets Shop in Africa to get our sweaty little hands on a Boozy Frozen Glacier! At $12.50, these aren’t your typical slushies.
These are Goofy’s Glaciers mixed with vodka, rum, whiskey, or tequila. (We almost wrote and tequila, which… that’s a whole other kind of What’s New post!).
We just gave you a sneak taste of the Boozy Goofy’s Glaciers we tried in Disney Springs yesterday (see our review here!), so it’s fun to know you can get your sloppy slushy on in a second location.
Kusafiri Coffee Shop and Bakery has added Chicken Curry, Shrimp Curry, and a combo of the two to the menu again. So we’re calling this Kusafiri’s Recurring Curry.
We first spotted Kusafiri’s Recurring Curry during Animal Kingdom’s Tasting Sampler earlier this year, and it’s staged a comeback,
Kusafiri has introduced a new, small Quinoa Salad with fresh herbs and dried fruit. It’s also got diced red onion and an abundance of diced cucumber. Read our review here to see if it’s worth your time.
We spotted Lion King Stacking Cups all over the Park. We’re not sure how these… stack… but they’re certainly cups. 😉
We spotted these at three locations: Mahindi, The Feeding Ground, and Thirsty River Bar. The Feeding Ground is the only one of the three locations that will fill it with Frozen Lemonade, which is super-refreshing this time of year.
Dino-Bite Snacks has a frozen treat you don’t need a Stacking Cup to enjoy: Scrooge McDuck’s Billionaire Bacon Caramel Sundae. We’ve seen this before (again, during the Tasting Sampler in April), and it’s waddled back onto the menu for the time being. Click here to read if a sundae with bacon and caramel is all it’s quacked up to be.
Restaurantosaurus and Creature Comforts have this patriotic sugary Fireworks Cupcake on hand for the 4th of July celebration. It’s a simple cupcake with explosive ambitions. Click here to see if we’re on fire for it… or if it’s a dud.
The Royal Anandapur Tea Company is a Joffrey’s location selling, among other things, a slew of colorful mini donuts. They’ve added a few red, white, and blue options. If you’re not sure what the other designs are supposed to be, we could tell you… but isn’t the mini mystery more fun?
Also in the Royal Anandapur case: Chocolate Caramel Pecan Honey Buns. We didn’t try them, but honey, honey, they look like a burst of morning energy (followed by a sticky crash).
What’s New in Animal Kingdom Construction and Decor
We’ve monkeyed around about the maintenance happening at the Siamang Ape habitat, and we’re happy to see the water has returned! We anticipate the Siamangs will be back soon. That’s something to howl about!
Meanwhile, back in Africa, across from Zuri’s Sweets Shop, guests can get into the mood with this The Lion King photo opp!
What’s New in Animal Kingdom Merchandise
Meanwhile at Riverside Depot: the lion sleeps tonight. And this morning. And all day long because it’s a stuffed animal that’s asleep.
This adorable sleeping Simba looks like he’s really embracing the hakuna matata mentality.
And before we share the name of this plush line, we’d just like to say, this is how we feel about our DFB readers:
Riverside Depot has several iPhone cases, too, one celebrating the fabulous Festival of the Lion King.
In further duck news: DuckTales Woo-oo!
And in case you prefer the chilly mountain heights of Everest:
Maybe they can get the Yeti to shiver someday…
Riverside Depot isn’t done (by a long shot) with Lion King merch, but this MagicBand is new-to-us. Look beyond what you see...
…to the backside of the MagicBand, where you’ll also find some lovely design details. 😉
We journeyed far, far away (to Chester and Hester’s) for this Buzz Lightyear Communication Arm. This isn’t entirely new, but it’s returned with a slightly different design.
The good news is, you can still set your laser to stun (and nothing will happen, but it’s still fun to do).
This new tee is Everest-ready and available near the Anandapur Ice Cream Truck.
Yeti or not, we’re done with this What’s New from Animal Kingdom! So, Dream Friends, we say asante sana, and stick around because we have TON more What’s New on the way this week from the Disney Parks!

Carolyn says
Are the mini donuts and honey buns snack credits on the dining plan?
DFB Sarah says
Carolyn, yes! Mini donuts are DDP snack credit eligible in a 4-pack!
Fran S says
So is the turkey sandwich gone now from Kusafiri bakery? We love that sandwich. We were so happy to find it after they took it off the menu at Flame Tree Bbq.
Lyndee says
Is that Lion King phone case available anywhere to purchase if I’m not in the parks? We don’t go until November but I’d love for my daughter to have it for her birthday!
DFB Sarah says
Lyndee, it looks like that exact case is not yet on ShopDisney, but there are a couple of Lion King options that you might like. Click here to see them or search on ShopDisney.com for phone cases.
DFB Sarah says
Fran, it appears the turkey sandwich is gone, at least for now.
