Shows and Events
Villainous!
Villainous!
, the new “World of Color” show, tells the tale of Shelley Marie, a young girl on an unforgettable journey. The show is filled with fountains, lights, lasers, projections, and special effects. The show describes that deep down, there may be a little villain in all of us!
Honestly, we’re interested to see what you guys think of this new show! For us, it was…interesting. The show itself starts off in a very lighthearted and fun way, but gets weirder and weirder as the story progresses!
Redwood Creek Challenge Trail
The Redwood Creek Challenge Trail will transform into Villains Grove. Here, guests will enter the “wondrous and ethereal” world of Disney Villains. Guests adventures will unfold in a series of scenes with each one creating a “hauntingly beautiful” dream-space of color, sound, light, and shadows. This area was a bit more spooky than we were expecting! But, we still feel like it will be a great opportunity for the whole family!
Treat Trails
When you check out the new Treat Trails, be on the lookout for a few familiar faces like Mad Hatter and Oogie Boogie. Also, be sure to snatch candy the oversized cauldrons on the trails.
The DescenDANCE Party
The DescenDance Party — which has also taken over Disney Springs in Walt Disney World — will feature the greatest dance crew from the Isle of the Lost.
The show will kick off with a spell, which will summon the dance crew from the Isle of the Lost! These dancers will lead everyone in moves set to songs from the Descendants films. After the dance crew is summoned back, the Backlot DJ will keep the party going with fun upbeat music!
Frightfully Fun Parade
The fan-favorite “Frightfully Fun Parade” from Disneyland will take over Disney California Adventure for the first time! Be on the lookout for the Headless Horseman of Sleepy Hollow, Mickey and Minnie, and a few Disney Villains.
And, joining the show this year is Cheshire Cat himself!
Mickey’s Trick and Treat Show
Mickey’s Trick and Treat Show
is also hitting DCA for the first time this fall! The show will feature Mickey, dancers, Halloween stories, and candy!! You’ll find this show at the Disney Theatre in Hollywood Land.
Carthay Circle Halloween Magic
There will also be new Halloween magic appearing on the facade of Carthay Circle. The building will be “enchanted throughout the night as bats swarm, green energy pulses from within, and spellbinding moments transform the iconic tower structure.”
Character Encounters
Also, be prepared to hang out with beloved villains and Disney characters throughout the event. They will be around the park interacting and taking photos!
Party Info
According to Disney, “The party begins at 6 p.m. PST and guests have the opportunity to play in Disney California Adventure for three hours before the party starts on Tuesday and Thursday nights (excluding Oct. 29 and Oct. 31) or four hours on Sunday nights, plus Oct. 29 and Oct. 31.”

Super sad that Mickey’s Halloween party in the main DLand park has been discontinued. This just doesn’t compare.

I was just told by a CM on the Disney Dining Reservation line that Carthy, Lamplight, and Trattoria are not serving dinner during the Oogie Boogie Bashes. Can you confirm this? I would understand if they weren’t doing reservations but to not serve dinner at all when all the parties are sold out does not make sense to me.
DFB Sarah says
Amanada, Wine Country Trattoria is offering a dining package during Oogie Boogie. See that here. Carthay Circle will have a Halloween effect during the party (see more here), otherwise, some dates of the party say the Lounge has a specially ticketed event, and others have no availability. Lamplight is only showing lunch/brunch availability on non-party days for the dates I just checked. I think you’ll want to call them back and confirm what you’ve been told. It can’t hurt to ask again, and hopefully they’ll clarify things for you.
