It kinda goes without saying by this point. Some folks are finding themselves with A LOT more free time while others are trying to balance working from home with kiddos who are growing more restless by the second!
Well, we’ve found a solution to all your social distancing doldrums — Imagineering in a Box! And the best part? It’s totally FREE!
We get it — with a name like Imagineering in a Box, this program sounds like some sort of home delivery subscription service, but as long as you have a device that can connect to the internet, you already have all the tools you need to get started!
Imagineering in a Box isn’t new. The free online courses actually launched last summer! In partnership with Khan Academy, Imagineers from around the world will tell YOU how they dreamed up, and then BUILT some of your favorite Disney attractions, animatronics — you name it!
Disney says the free online curriculum aim is to, “ignite curiosity, inspire creativity, and encourage innovation in the minds of students and teachers alike, while creating fun and engaging opportunities to explore new concepts.” Now that sounds like a class load we wouldn’t mind shouldering — especially IN OUR PJs!
The series offers 32 videos showcasing a range of skills demonstrated by the Disney Imagineers, from story development and conceptual design, math, physics, and engineering. Plus, many of the lessons include hands-on elements with varying degrees of difficulty so all age groups can feel welcome to explore!
UPDATE (3/18): Disney Parks Blog wants to hear how you are using Imagineering in a Box! You can use #Disney, #BetterTogether, and #ImagineeringinaBox on Instagram and tag @WaltDisneyImagineering to let them know — and you’ll have a chance to be featured!

What age is this made for? Is it elementary school age?
Joy, there’s no grade level assigned to it. I would say upper-elementary can go through it alone while younger elementary would need some assistance. Older kids might like it, too!
