We’re back at Disney World for the first time since mid-March now that select resorts have reopened today!

And while the theme parks aren’t slated to reopening until next month, we’ve had the chance to go exploring and spot a few changes since our last visit to the hotels. That’s where we noticed this BIG change that was pretty hard to miss!
As you may recall, Cinderella Castle had just started to receive her royal makeover shortly before the parks closed. We found out the Magic Kingdom icon would be getting a new rosy-pinkish paint job! Here’s how she looked when we saw her last!

The new paint job was going up quickly, however, it was put on hold along with the rest of Disney World’s construction projects shortly after the closures occurred. But not too long ago, we found out the refurbishment had resumed and today we got to see Cinderella Castle once more with our own EYES!
Magic Kingdom
We’ve booked a stay at Disney’s Contemporary Resort which overlooks Magic Kingdom. And even though we can’t hop on the monorail and run over to Cinderella Castle right now because A.) the monorail isn’t running yet and B.) the park isn’t scheduled to reopen until July 11th, we’re VERY impressed by what we can SEE from a distance!

And you guys, it’s PINK. Like really salmony-pink! The blues and very bright and you can even spot a lot of the golden details. Maybe it’s just wishful thinking (like when you wish upon a star!) but it certainly looks like the Cinderella Castle refurbishment could be completed VERY soon!

We gotta say, the castle looks much more reminiscent of Disneyland’s pink Sleeping Beauty Castle (which also recently underwent a refurbishment). And the pictures hardly do the major change justice y’all. The color is VERY bright and different!

I’ve seen some other photos floating around the web of the new castle, and it’s really beautiful! I love how the sunset pink replaces the boring, flat grey plain plaster walls. I love how the new blue roofs POP compared to the previous sky blue ones (I don’t want the spires to blend to the sky!). And I love the extra gold on the embellishments, drawing attention to the detail in the construction. Yes, it looks less like a ‘real’ castle; it looks more like a FANTASY, fairytale castle now! Can’t wait to see it in person.
Totally first world problems rant: I can’t stand this makeover and I hope this color change is only temporary, because it is so hideous it actually makes me sad. It’s breaking the Disney part of my heart. Why make Cinderella Castle look like Sleeping Beauty Castle? What possible reason for choosing totally mismatched tones of blue and pink? Each of the chosen colors on their OWN are garish, but when you put them together? UGH. It makes me want to look away. The Castle always brought me such joy, and told me a vacation at Disney had actually begun, but now I’m just going to be upset every time I turn a corner and see it. 🙁

I think it looks fabulous, I’m just bummed because I won’t get to see it until the virus is controlled and there’s a vaccine. By the time it’s safe to go there they’ll probably have changed it again.
Just another reason I don’t need to rush back to the park. This looks hideous. Why??? Between this and changing splash mountain I feel no desire to return and renew my annual pass. I’ll spend a few years with Universal where they care about details.

I’ve only been to Magic Kingdom about 6 times over 40 years and I honestly can’t tell you what color the castle was during any of those visits. I do know it wasn’t during the time it looked like a birthday cake.
I don’t think the pink photographs well. Hopefully, it is prettier in person.
Before anyone thinks about jumping of the bridge at SAB. I just want to take the time to remind you of that awful 25th makeover. I like cake. I even like B-Day Cake. And I like Cinderella Castle. I do not nor did I ever like those two things mashed-up. So, I’ll be glad to accept the new paint, for her 50th.

Sad, sad, sad.😔 I won’t be waiting in castle Photopass lines anymore. We can only hope that the Fla sun fades it!!
Those shades of blue and pink dont look good together! 😢 The castle definitely needed a face lift, but this is too bold and cheesy… looks like something you’d see in legoland. No longer ethereal and “disney magic”!

I really like that last paint scheme. Every time I went to MK, I would think that it looked really nice. Not too sure about the sparkly pink and blue. It seems too juvenile or something. I will judge it when I see it in person. My guess is that it won’t last too long. There are too many that already hate it.
I am sad when I look at the colors on Cinderella Castle. I always got goose bumps when I saw the castle, but with the new color scheme – NOTHING! Cinderella’s color is blue. I could understand giving it a freshening up, but with a light blue color, not Sleeping Beauty pink. Hope this is not a permanent change.
I really like the blue and the gold but I don’t like the pink at all.
I don’t mind the pink color like so many seem to, but I really don’t like the darker royal blue color. It doesn’t look like Cinderella’s castle any more. Not a fan of the changes. Maybe it will look better when I see it in person, whenever that may be. Working on rescheduling for a 4th time. It’s moving to 2021 now.
Has gone from an enchanted castle in a very imaginable magical kingdom to what appears to be a plastic piece from a board game.
