Today was the grand reopening of EPCOT! After a week of exploring Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom, we’ve been busy tasting our way around World Showcase for the first time since March. And there is PLENTY to taste, with “A Taste of Food and Wine” officially kicked off!
And when we visit World Showcase, one of our favorite gems to stop at is La Cava del Tequila. So once we knew EPCOT was reopening, we immediately penciled in a trip to the Mexico Pavilion to see how the new health and safety measurements would be implemented.
You may recall the fun mixology classes happening on La Cava’s Instagram during the park closures. It made us miss this cozy corner of the Mexico Pavilion even more, so we were very much looking forward to poking our heads inside and see what was new! When we stepped into La Cava del Tequila, however, we immediately noticed a HUGE difference.
The tables are GONE! During this phased reopening, it seems like La Cava del Tequila will NOT be a dine-in experience. Drinks are ordered at the bar and are to-go only. A limited menu is available to look at when you get in line, or you can scan the QR code with your phone to view the full menu currently available. Many of La Cava’s featured margaritas are available, including Neil Patrick Harris’ Black Magic Margarita.
The line wraps around the perimeter of the dining room and comes back around the standing tables, which are still in place.
Physical distancing markers are on the floor to assist guests while they wait.
As we approached the bar, we spotted plexiglass shields between Cast Members and guests. Additional floor markers were present to separate travel parties as they ordered.
Hand sanitizer was readily available at the bar. An additional QR code was also available to double-check the menu before ordering!
All of the margaritas available for purchase are pre-made. Tequila shots are also available for purchase, which come served on the rocks and mixed with club soda. For food, guacamole is available to go! Sorry guys, you can’t grab any of their amazing queso for now!
So, what did we order? Well, you may have remembered a short while ago, we shared that The Rock was bringing his new Teremana tequila to La Cava!
It appears twice on La Cava’s menu, Teremana blanco ($13.00) and Teremana reposado ($14.00). Went ahead and ordered it, and it was served over ice, presented as a beautiful palm tree made out of lime wedges!
We THOROUGHLY enjoyed our Rock tequila…on the ROCKS.
We were stoked when we learned The Rock, star of the upcoming Jungle Cruise film, was bringing his own tequila to Disney World! Give it a try next time you’re in EPCOT and you’ll find yourselves thanking us for the recommendation! Don’t worry, we’ll beat you to the punch…“You’re welcome!”

I think there’s a typo up there. Dwayne Johnson is starting in the upcoming Jungle Cruise film, not Jungle Book. 🙂

Melissa, do you not want to see him as Mowgli? We’ve fixed up that mix up!
