Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is not only a Star Wars fan’s dream, but the lands in Disney World and Disneyland have so many gorgeous details.
While we’ve been back to piloting the Millennium Falcon on Smugglers Run and joining the Resistance on Rise of the Resistance, there is so much more to explore in Galaxy’s Edge.
According to the Orange County Register, a new Star Wars book states that three festivals may be coming to the parks soon! While we haven’t seen any holiday celebrations in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disney World and Disneyland yet, the Traveler’s Guide to Batuu has given details about the Black Spire Day, Batuuan Harvest Festival, and Life Day.
The Lucasfilm and Walt Disney Imagineering book is an “in-world travel guide to the Black Spire Outpost village” with backstories for characters and locations throughout Batuu. While it gives some recommendations on shopping, dining, and sight-seeing locations, the Traveler’s Guide to Batuu also may give a few hints about the holiday seasons that could be coming to Galaxy’s Edge in the parks.
Black Spire Day
Although we LOVE Star Wars Day on May the Fourth, Batuuans also celebrate Black Spire Day on May 4th as well. The holiday celebrates the founding of the outpost with colorful tarps, ribbons, and flowers decorating the land.
The book also states that “Locals sing traditional songs, feast, and tie wishes to the Trilon tree. Sometimes the evening ends in a procession through the outpost with a fireworks display.”
Batuuan Harvest Festival
Since the Black Spire Outpost is off the beaten path in the Outer Rim, it might be surprising that Batuu’s most valuable natural resource is golden lichen or “gold dust.” Oga Garra brings travelers into Oga’s Cantina with gold dust cocktails and specialty dishes.
Planets all across the galaxy celebrate their own form of the Harvest Festival (kind of like a space Thanksgiving). But, Batuu’s specific festival sees the outpost “decorated in golden hued banner streamers and locals have been known to enhance their garb with similar colors.”
Life Day
Although Life Day started back on the Wookiee planet of Kashyyyk, the annual holiday is celebrated all throughout the galaxy as a day of “peace, harmony and freedom for all beings no matter how different they may appear.”
The planet is decorated with festive items and everyone sings songs together to commemorate the Tree of Life’s life-giving and life-affirming powers.
Wookiees usually wear traditional red robes and exchange gifts around a tree (Christmas 2.0). The celebration also has fireworks, festive music, and treats that we are DESPERATE to have. We’re talking Wookiee-cookiees and Hoth chocolate that everyone will be able to enjoy.
The alien band from the original Star Wars trilogy, Figrin D’an and the Modal Nodes, are also known to give performances during Life Day.
(In case Life Day sounds a little bit familiar to you, the holiday has been mentioned on the 1978 “Star Wars Holiday Special” and in the opening episode of The Mandalorian.)

Given that Disney has canceled all of the holiday celebrations this year I doubt much of this will happen. Except of course for the food and merchandise
