Oh, EPCOT, you ever-changing place!

We’re in EPCOT often to check out the latest construction, and it really does feel like there are updates every time we visit! But today, we found some updates from behind-the-scenes. This is construction you probably WON’T see on your EPCOT day, but it sure is exciting nonetheless! Let’s take a look at some BIG EPCOT building permits!

As you’ve probably heard, EPCOT is in the midst of a transformation, which includes a major overhaul of many areas. We found THREE (count ’em, THREE) new building permits directly related to the EPCOT transformation and we’re pretty pumped to show you!

Harmonious Progress

First up, we saw a permit for the address that’s coded to the Marina Entertainment space that helps to house the nighttime spectaculars that take place on World Showcase Lagoon. The permit description is vague and it’s filed with Disney’s internal construction company — but there IS something interesting about this info!

The permit notes that it’s for “Project K” which has been the name used to refer to work on Harmonious in the past. OOOH! Looks like the “Below Deck” of a barge is getting some work done — possibly in anticipation for the upcoming show.

We’ve seen some crews out on barges on World Showcase Lagoon recently too! Hopefully, we’ll be seeing more about these new fireworks soon.

Innoventions East Construction

Next up, we spotted a permit (filed today) for “Project G” which is the overarching name that has been used for LOTS of EPCOT transformation stuff. We’re not sure WHAT they’re doing — since it’s filed with Disney’s internal company and very vague information — but we do know WHERE the work is.

The address on the permit is for Innoventions East, Suite B. Innoventions East is the building that used to house Mouse Gear and Electric Umbrella, but Suite B was on the other side of those two locations. Mysterious!

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind Updates

Over at the address coded to Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind (formerly the Energy Pavilion), there has been a lot going on. We’ve spotted work in the parks recently AND there’s apparently a new support structure going up inside too. The newest permit might not be the most exciting, but progress is progress!

On August 11th, Walt Disney Imagineering filed a permit for a “Reuse Irrigation Line” at the coaster building. This is actually way cooler than it sounds because it will make the ride building more eco-friendly. This line will help take wastewater and make it reusable!

It’s cool to see that Disney is installing more eco-friendly measures within their structures!
