Recently, a Disney executive noted that Disney Cruise Line will be the last part of the Disney company to resume its business.
Disney Cruise Line recently postponed departure dates through the middle of December aboard the Disney ships. Now, we’ve seen more details about this suspension listed on the Disney Cruise Line website.
In early August, Disney Cruise Line suspended all departures through October. Just a few days ago, however, we shared with you that Disney Cruise Line had removed all of its sailings from its website in early December, and that departure dates had been postponed through the middle of December aboard the Disney ships. From what we saw, the earliest December departure appearing online were from December 12th through December 19th.
Now, Disney Cruise Line’s website has officially been updated to reflect that all departures have been temporarily suspended through at least December 6th.
The website notes that, as Disney continues to “refine health and safety protocols” for their return to service, and as they “await direction from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention,” Disney Cruise Line has decided to extend its temporary suspension of new sailings.
Sailings on the Disney Fantasy are canceled through December 6. Sailings on the Disney Dream and Disney Wonder are canceled through December 11, and sailings on the Disney Magic are canceled through December 12.
Guests on affected sailings who have paid their reservation in full will be offered the choice of a 125% cruise credit, which can be used for a future sailing prior to May 31, 2022, or a full refund. The credit will be automatically applied to the affected Guests’ accounts. Guests who have not paid their reservations in full yet will automatically receive a refund of whatever they have already paid. Affected Guests will be receiving an email from Disney Cruise Line with more details and next steps, so if your cruise has been affected by this suspension of departures, be on the lookout for that email.
The Disney Cruise Line website has also been updated to provide a full listing of the affected cruises.
The website also notes that Guests now have the flexibility to change their sail date up to 15 days before departure if they book a cruise by October 31, 2020 for sailings through May of 2021.
As this is not the first time Disney has canceled new sailings, and Disney has indicated that cruising will be the last part of the business that will resume, this is a situation that is subject to change again. We’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for more updates and we’ll let you know as soon as we spot any more news related to Disney Cruise Line sailings.
