This has been a tough year for many, but we’ve taken comfort in the many acts of service we’ve seen people perform.
Following last week’s news that Disney is laying off 28,000 employees, some impassioned fans have stepped up to do what they can to help. And thanks to their recent efforts, we now have a list of businesses run by Cast Members we can support.
As a result of the ongoing health crisis which continues to impact tourism, travel, and theme parks, Disney recently made the announcement that it would be laying off thousands of its Cast Members.
We know the heart and soul that goes into being a Cast Member — this is much more than a “job,” it’s a calling. And for so many, it’s a dream come true.
In the wake of this news, we’ve seen a surge of support that’s truly heartwarming. And recently, Jessica and Ashleigh of The Theme Parkettes Podcast compiled an INCREDIBLE spreadsheet of resources for Cast Members, including an ongoing list of Cast Member-run businesses and projects we can support!
Click here to access the spreadsheet!
The document is for Cast Members, former Cast Members, and fans of Cast Members, filled with info ranging from Venmo donations and Amazon Wishlists to various Etsy shops run by Cast Members!
Carlye Wisel has also put out a call to action on Twitter, encouraging Cast Members to share info on personal businesses, as a way to drum up support.
CAST MEMBERS!! if you were laid off and sell, well, anything (clothing? stickers? doodles? hats? old stuff on depop or eBay?) on a personal account online, please drop it below!!
will do my best to blast it out and help support any alternate source of income for you💕

She’s received a stream of responses and continues to share resources, including this EPIC doc that @themeparkettes put together! It’s wonderful to see the power of social media being used for GOOD! If you have the ability to support in any way, this is an amazing way to help out the Cast Members that have created so much magic for us and other guests.

Check out the Facebook group “ear for each other.” It lets furloughed and laid off CMs share their incredible talents and side hustles.

I was fortunate enough to visit DW twice in 2018 from South Africa with my sister and her family.
They went again in 2019.
They have two special needs daughters who love everything Disney. The way every cast member went out of their way to make their trips memorable was truly amazing.
We all hope things get back to to a stage where everyone that was laid off can get their jobs back and get back to what you do well, :- making people happy.
Thank you all so much.
