Frosting Fans, We Found the Disney Cupcake For You!

We love a good cupcake here at DFB.

We’ve tried crunchy cupcakes, cupcakes with rum, and cupcakes that pack a TON of flavor. We might go so far as to call ourselves cupcake pros! So while we were checking out the new Cast Member Costumes at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, we just HAD to hop over to Fort Wilderness to try a treat.

This dessert from P & J’s Southern Takeout is a chocolate cupcake with chocolate frosting, a chocolate covered cherry, and cherry filling. Chocolate and cherry — sounds like a classic, right? Let’s give it a try!

Okay, so this thing was a chocolate OVERLOAD. It’s definitely for all our chocolate lovers out there. There was a hint of that tart cherry to add some balance, but the sweetness was really prominent. If you don’t like that overpowering sweetness, you may wanna pick a different dessert!

Let’s talk frosting! There was a LOT of it, and it was super thick. It had the texture and flavor of fudge! Unfortunately, the frosting to cake ratio wasn’t even — we would’ve liked to have seen some more cake. But the cherry filling was delicious and made that little bit of cake incredibly moist, so props to our cupcake there.

Even though we wish there’d been more cake, we’re considering this treat an upgrade from Fort Wilderness’s Black Forest Cupcake from New Year’s! Although the ingredients were SUPER similar, this cupcake was much more moist, and at least the cherry didn’t taste like medicine! You can grab this treat for yourself for $4.99.
