Disney World is getting a hotel experience like no other.
We’re talking about the upcoming Star Wars Hotel, A.K.A. the Galactic Starcruiser. This experience is set to feel more like a cruise experience than a traditional hotel experience and will feature a personalized and immersive Star Wars story for guests to participate in. Now, we’re checking on the construction progress!
Local Orlando pilot Jonathan Salazar, @thedisneypilot on Instagram, recently flew over the in-progress Star Wars Hotel to snap some pics of the way the building looks at this point.
You can see that the building has a unique shape. Guests will arrive at the six-sided overhang you can spot at one end of the building. The other end appears to be where the guest rooms will be located.
The big update today is visible in the trees around the hotel. The last time we saw a flyover, there wasn’t any foliage. It looks like some landscaping is coming together in guest areas with trees planted to help with the theming.
We recently spotted construction permits filed for the theming on the inside of the hotel, so that work may be ongoing now.
At this time, Disney has not announced an opening date for the hotel. The website still lists 2021.
From these photos, the hotel looks smaller than a typical Disney hotel, so it’s possible it will not welcome a massive number of guests at a time.
We’ll be keeping a close eye on the progress to bring you updates and keep you in the loop on when we might find ourselves staying aboard the Galactic Starcruiser.
As always, keep an eye on DFB for all the latest Disney updates!
