We’ve been getting realll excited for the Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind ride coming to EPCOT.
The ride was scheduled to open in time for Disney World’s 50th anniversary this October…but things took a turn and it seems like that opening may be delayed. While construction is making progress, there’s lots to be done before this exciting new attraction is ready to debut. And now, we’ve got another sign that we may have to wait a bit longer than planned.
James Gunn, director of the Guardians of the Galaxy films, took to Twitter to confirm that the show scenes for the attraction haven’t been filmed yet. That’s a pretty big component in this ride’s creation! He clarified that the scenes were “on the agenda” for his 2021 schedule, but it’s all a matter of when — and Gunn hasn’t announced that exact timeline.
Yes Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at Disneyworld is also on the agenda. https://t.co/KLWL7cYjXL

In the meantime, we’ve been keeping a super close eye on the construction over at EPCOT and bringing you ALL the latest info! Recently, we spotted blue wrapping covering the newly installed wooden paneling on the outside of the building…and we even found a construction permit that could mean an exciting “Show Element” is coming to the attraction.
It’s worth noting that Disney has NOT confirmed any type of delay…but they also didn’t mention the ride when they confirmed their list of 2021 openings. Interesting, right?! We’ll continue to keep you posted as we learn more about Guardians of the Galaxy. We’ve got our fingers crossed we’ll be hopping aboard with Star-Lord, Rocket, and the rest of the Guardians of the Galaxy soon!
