Not too long ago, fireworks returned to Magic Kingdom and EPCOT in Disney World with Happily Ever After and EPCOT Forever, respectively.
But, at the start of Disney World’s 50th Anniversary there will be new fireworks shows for fans to enjoy — Disney Enchantment in Magic Kingdom and Harmonious in EPCOT. One thing we wondered is what would happen to Happily Ever After after the 50th Anniversary celebrations? Would it come back or would it be gone for good? We’ve got a BIG update!
Today, Disney shared that EPCOT Forever and Happily Ever After will officially CLOSE in Disney World this summer. Specifically, Disney said that this summer will be your last chance to catch these fireworks before they “sparkle into Disney history.” That language appears to indicate that these fireworks will in fact CLOSE this summer and will not return to the parks in the future (at least according to what Disney seems to be indicating now).
When will these shows close? EPCOT Forever will close in EPCOT on September 28th. The Disney website has been updated to note that this will be your last chance to see the show.
And Happily Ever After will close at Magic Kingdom on September 29th. Again, the Disney website has been updates to see that this will be the show’s final performance.
If you’d like to see these fireworks before the new shows take their places, be sure to make your plans to visit the parks before they end! What about those new shows coming to the parks? Well, Disney Enchantment will debut in Magic Kingdom on October 1st. During the show, guests will get to enjoy “music, enhanced lighting, stunning fireworks and, for the first time, immersive projection effects that extend from Cinderella Castle down Main Street, U.S.A.” The fireworks are meant to take guests “on a journey filled with adventure, wonder and empowerment,” inspiring everyone to believe in magic.
What about Harmonious? This new show will debut in EPCOT also on October 1st. During the show, you’ll get to see fireworks, custom-built LED panels, choreographed moving lasers, fountains, and more.
Harmonious will incorporate Disney music with classic songs reinterpreted and presented by diverse cultural musicians from around the world in keeping with the international celebration that is EPCOT’s World Showcase.

With the amount of time and money they spent on the EPCOT fireworks, something will be back

I haven’t even had a chance to get emotionally attached to Happily Ever After yet. Just bring back Wishes already. I hope this new fireworks show at Magic Kingdom will last long enough for people to make memories from and get attached to.

so terrible.

Yes I’m so sad to see HEA fireworks end. My daughter loves this show, as do I. We get teary -eyed every time. It’s not that old and it seems loved by all. I don’t understand the direction Disney execs are going with the park. Must they take away everything we love? Characters were harder and harder to find pre-pandemic,, they might be ending the parades and now the rumored pay for fast pass system and use of more virtual queues is a horrific money grab. There used to be at least a veneer of caring about guest experience. Now it’s all about squeezing every penny out of park goers and the high ticket prices get you less and less. I feel the magic leaving Disney and it pains me to say it because we have loved visiting the parks. They’re ruining a legacy but they don’t care as long as the money is rolling in.

I was planning on going to WDW this Holiday Season, but with all the cut backs to extra magic Hours, lack of parades, increases in prices, and park reservation limits to park hopping, I’ve decided to cancel my reservation.
It’s not worth the hassle or the cost. It’s so sad. I looked forward every year to my pre-Christmas trip to WDW to start my holiday season, but they have taken all the joy out of it now.

Why is it being closed? Just because of the anniversary or do they change every few years?
(I’m not American, I’ve never been to a Disney world)
DFB Sarah says
Emilia, they are bringing in a new show for the anniversary, but ordinarily they do change shows after a number of years.
