Animal Kingdom has dozens of different animals you can check out while you’re in the park!
You may encounter some beautiful birds in front of the Tree of Life and we sometimes even run into talking animals! And earlier this year, a baby White Rhino made his debut on Kilimanjaro Safaris, the first White Rhino born to the herd in 5 years! While there are cute and cuddly creatures throughout the park, there are also some that can be a bit more intimidating, which is exactly what we saw yesterday in the park!
We were strolling through DinoLand U.S.A. yesterday when we came across the American Crocodile exhibit.
Did you know there was a croc right there in DinoLand? It makes sense, since it’s a living descendant of the dinosaurs!
The croc was just chillin’ as a group of guests looked on when it suddenly decided to open its mouth REAL wide, scaring a group of guests a bit!
Now, there was nothing to be worried about — this is just how crocodiles cool down! The action is called “mouth gaping” and helps keep them from overheating when they’re basking in the sun (because crocs can’t sweat!).
Still, it’s a little scary seeing all those sharp teeth!
Overall, it was a pretty cool encounter to experience! Try and check out the crocodile the next time you’re in Animal Kingdom to see if you can catch it “gaping” as well. We’ll keep you updated about any other fun animal encounters, so stay tuned to DFB for more!
