We’ve seen plenty of adorable Halloween treats in Disney World this year.
And we have to admit — we’ve also seen our share of not-so-cute Halloween treats as well. Today we went to a Disney World hotel restaurant to check out a returning treat from last year (spoiler alert: it was one of the not-so-cute ones last year), but we were SHOOK when we saw what this ugly duckling turned into.
We were looking for the Going Batty Cupcake, which is available now for $5.99.
Like we said before, we tried out the same treat last year and loved it despite its…not-so-pretty appearance. Here’s what this cupcake looked like last year…
…verses what it looked like today!
Um, glow up much? This cupcake is GORGEOUS now!
The cupcake is more wide than it is tall, but it’s about the same amount of cake as a normal cupcake. It is covered in green buttercream icing, and there are two chocolate ghosts with edible glitter dusted on them (for a sparkly spooky effect, of course). There’s also a white chocolate “going batty” disc that has a haunted house picture on it, plus a big sugar cookie bat that’s covered in black sprinkle shavings. And to top it all off, there are Halloween sprinkles over everything.
We think the new look is a million times better than last year’s version. All the decorative details are super cute, and it just looks much neater and more appetizing than before.
Inside, the cake is a simple chocolate cake, and ours was very fresh and moist. The buttercream icing and sugar cookie were both pretty basic as well, so altogether everything was very tasty but just a little bit boring.
We would’ve loved some more unique combinations or a special fall flavor, but if you love chocolate and simple desserts, we don’t think you’ll be disappointed at all. And we definitely give it full marks for design.
If we were to make one change, we’d probably turn the cupcake part into a brownie instead to make this treat just a little more interesting.
Pro-tip: There aren’t any plates available at Roaring Fork, but you can disassemble the take-out box to make it into a plate!
