There are a lot of BIG things coming soon to Disney World!
Whether it’s makeovers to the resort hotels, new roller coasters, or dining options that we can’t wait to try, there’s a lot on the horizon for the vacation destination. However, the thing that we may have been waiting on the longest is the Tron Coaster in Magic Kingdom…and today it hit a HUGE milestone!
We found out recently that the Tron Coaster (which STILL doesn’t have an opening date!) would start the next phase of ride testing soon. And today, we got to see the process with our own eyes!

Currently, the ride is going through the push/pull test, where sections of the train are slowly moved through the entire ride track. Once that’s complete, the trains will be put through launch tests on the entire track at incremental speeds.
We could see the testing progress while on the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover, but it’s also visible from Storybook Circus. Check out that ride vehicle!
After they’ve worked up to the full-speed launches, test weights will be used on the ride. Several months after that, and some additional tests later, the Tron Coaster team members will be able to participate in tests once the coaster is “approved for ridership.”
We’ll continue watching this ride to see the progress that is made, so stay tuned to DFB for more news and updates!
