Many things have returned to Disney World over the past several months, but there are still some that have yet to come back.
The stage show is back!
We just recently saw the return of the stage show and parades in Magic Kingdom, but there is one attraction that has been closed since 2018 that we’ve been waiting to return — The Walt Disney World Railroad! The Railroad has been closed due to construction in Tomorrowland on the Tron coaster, but we have a new look at some recent testing happening on the classic train!
Disney just posted a video on TikTok of testing beginning on the Walt Disney World Railroad! In the video we meet a Cast Member who shows us how the original locomotives run in the park. Take a look below:

We also saw Railroad testing recently over in Fantasyland — the train was moving backwards!

And, back in November of 2021, we learned that the Number 1 Engine on the train had been completely refurbished. So, it’s going to look all nice and new when it finally reopens!
The train looks great!
Disney has not yet announced when the Railroad will officially return, but this testing has up hopeful that it will be soon! Stay tuned to DFB for more Disney World news and updates.

Where you’ve said ‘The train looks great’ well that’s a locomotive. The train is the bit behind the loco. (The engineer correctly termed it the locomotive in the video I note) Pedantic I know, but these things are important to some of us.
However, the locomotive does indeed look great.
Now this IS wonderful news! I was holding off planning our trip until there were signs of the Railroad coming back to life. My Special Needs daughter was a WISH Child back in 2009, and absolutely LOVED riding the train. She also loves riding the train at Dollywood as well.
Getting it to run forward, on a complete track, I think is the trick everyone wants!
