Before visiting Disney World, you’ll definitely want to check out the refurbishment calendar online to see what might be closed during your trip.
Often, attractions will close for a short amount of time to get some maintenance and keep things spiffy, but sometimes those closures last longer than anticipated. The PeopleMover had a surprise closure of more than a year a while back, but one other Magic Kingdom ride has that one beat — the Walt Disney World Railroad.
The Walt Disney World Railroad has been closed since late 2018 due to construction on the Tron coaster in Tomorrowland. No end date was originally announced for the closure, but now it looks like the refurbishment will be extending into 2022, according to new hours posted on the Disney World website.
At this time, the train is listed on the refurbishment calendar through January 5th, 2022, which is the last day of park hours released currently. We’ll continue to check the calendar as more park hours are released. Disney hasn’t shared any updates on this refurbishment, but we’ll keep you updated if they release any details on either the Walt Disney World Railroad or the Tron coaster (it currently doesn’t have an opening date).
