There are A LOT of new and exciting things coming to EPCOT in the next year or so!

EPCOT
There’s the brand new walk-through experience Moana: Journey of Water, an upcoming Quick Service location that will replace Electric Umbrella, a new festival area in the center of World Celebration (which was formerly known as a portion of Future World), and more. But, perhaps one of the most highly anticipated projects is Disney World’s first-ever Marvel roller coaster — Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. Now, it seems like we’ve been waiting a long time for this ride to open, but we finally know exactly WHEN it will debut!
Disney just announced that Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind will open on May 27, 2022! Looks like it’s time to start planning your trip so that you can finally go on an adventure with the iconic characters.
Disney made the announcement today, along with a video of EPCOT that kept rewinding, as a nod to this ride’s theme!

…and then enter into the Galaxarium (aka a “planetarium-like exhibition”) where they will learn all about the galaxies that surround Earth and Xandar throughout the queue.

Plus, the Galaxarium will also feature lessons from Xandarians, where guests will learn about the Xandarian world, the people, and the advanced technologies that they have.

And, then it’s time to board the Nova ship up to space! Of course, things don’t necessarily go as planned…so the guardians of the galaxy will end up needing YOUR help to save the galaxy!

What makes this attraction unique is that it will be one of the longest indoor rollercoasters in the WORLD (which we can attest is true after getting a peek inside the building). And, the draw won’t just be how long you’ll be riding through space, it will also feature the first-ever reverse launch on a Disney coaster AND the ride vehicles will spin a full 360 degrees on the track while traveling at high speeds.
We recently saw a bunch of photos INSIDE the ride for the first time! Imagineer Zach Riddley shared these pictures from the inside of the show building to his Instagram!
Here’s what the loading area is going to look like!
You can spot the Nova Corps logo all throughout the queue!
Walt Disney Imagineers also gave us this inside look at the ride!
The Nova Corps Starblaster Ship is also being installed in front of the show building! It looks so cool and we can’t wait to get a closer look at it.
The ride is also on My Disney Experience, all ready for the opening!
So, are you ready to blast into space this summer? Us too! Of course, we’ll be sure to keep an eye out for more exciting updates and previews of the new ride, so be sure to stay tuned to DFB for the latest!

Any word on if there will be an annual pass holder preview?
Have they announced if it will be done via Virtual Queue or through Genie+ as a Fancy Ride to pay for?
We haven’t heard anything yet, Rita, but we will definitely update if we do!
Hi Adam! Disney has not yet released if Guardians and Tron will be virtual queue or IAS. Our best guess is that it will be an IAS attraction, but we will update as soon as we know more.
I hope and pray for a soft opening. We will be there in May, but leave on May 20th! Waited 4 YEARS for this trip. Saving for over 5 years and all they have new to show for all that time is a rehash ride from Paris that we have already been on the ORIGINAL, that is better, because instead of a CHEAP (thanks Cheap-ek) counter service place, the end of your ride their ends just like in the movie, with a REAL FULL RESTAURANT! That we have eaten in. Instead of the most “magical 50th they should call it the most LAMEST 50th!
Wow. What a pity. I’m in Orlando until May 25. Are there usually soft openings?
Get ready to shell out $50 for that lightning Lane. i guess I’ll need to watch at least one marvel movie by then
I’ll be back home by then. Maybe in December….
Rita:
Today I got an email announcing the opening, and to be on the lookout for another email about Annual Passholder and DVC registration for sneak peeks. So there WILL be a preview, but no info about when.
