Encanto has been a HUGE hit for Disney ever since it was released late last year, breaking song records AND winning an Oscar for Best Animated Feature.
So, the obvious next question we have is…when will we see Encanto come to the Disney Parks? We’ve already seen merchandise, some themed food items, and even a few characters and parade appearances, but we want to know about ATTRACTIONS! And, a Disney executive just shared some insight!
Disney Senior Executive Vice President and CFO Christine McCarthy said that she thinks we could see Encanto in the Disney Parks soon during the MoffettNathanson 9th Annual Media & Communications Summit.
She said “Something that’s not yet really in the parks but I think you will see it soon is something like Encanto. It was really just wonderful and the music, you know, that, elements of that could be incorporated into the park experience.”
Continuing to talk about the subject, Christine McCarthy said “Some of it will be transitory, some of it will be more permanent, certainly when we put like a Marvel Avengers Campus, that’s more permanent. But, we can do things with entertainment that really are relevant.”
So, will we see something more permanent themed to Encanto in the parks soon? Well, nothing has been confirmed, but at least we know that one Disney executive is thinking about it! And, we know that others involved with the movie want to see something like an attraction in the parks, too. Encanto composer Lin-Manuel Miranda previously mentioned that he wants to see a ride themed to the movie!

I had thought that “Encanto” meant “to sing” as the movie is one long song, but Google Translate says it’s “charm”! (as in “enchant” I guess)
I’d really like to see Disney add some South American representation to the World Showcase. Europe is hugely represented, as is North America, and there is Asian representation as well, though not as much as Europe and North America. Though to be fair, Africa and Asia both have areas dedicated to them in Animal Kingdom. What’s sorely lacking is South America, and something from Encanto would fit well there….dare I say better than Frozen fits in Norway? There are definitely some gaps in the World showcase and even within Europe, some of the smaller countries have no place. I’d like to see some more general areas that aren’t attached to any specific country, where representatives from any country on that continent could share their culture with guests. But for right now, the focus should certainly be on adding the one continent without any existence in the park currently(as far as I know)….South America. And Encanto would be a great place to start.
