It’s been over two years since Disney World’s historic closing and reopening!
Since then, many things in the parks have returned to normal: entertainment is back, traditional character meet and greets have returned, and most restaurants have reopened (or will reopen soon). However, one attraction has been closed even LONGER, although it now looks like it’s getting closer to reopening!
In 2018, Disney World began construction on the TRON Lightcycle Run in Magic Kingdom’s Tomorrowland. As a result, the Walt Disney World Railroad was closed until its railroad tracks could be re-routed to make way for the new attraction. We’ve recently seen a tunnel that goes under the new ride being constructed…
…as well as new tracks in Fantasyland…
…and in Tomorrowland near TRON.
We’ve also seen the Railroad being tested near the Fantasyland station.

So that means the railroad is one step closer to reopening. Disney World has not yet released an official reopening date, but we’ll be sure to let you know as soon as that happens!

This was such a unique lost opportunity to offer the backstage tours of the railroad shops that they used to offer but were very limited when the railroad is in full operation.
