If it feels like you’ve been waiting years for TRON Lightcycle Run to be completed at Magic Kingdom, well, that’s because you have.
Disney first began construction on this new attraction over four years ago, and it certainly hasn’t been smooth sailing ever since. A few inverted loops have been thrown into the planning and building of this roller coaster, but now we’re seeing everything start to come together. And it looks like TRON is one step closer to being completed, because a Magic Kingdom spot has closed for construction!
On our most recent stroll through Magic Kingdom, we wanted to see if there was any new progress on the construction over at TRON Lightcycle Run — but instead what we saw was a CLOSED Tomorrowland Light & Power Co.!
The store has been closed in order for the next phase of construction on TRON to begin, so there is some good news as well. You might remember that the exit for Space Mountain opens up into Tomorrowland Light & Power Co., so for now guests who are exiting the ride will not be able to do so through the gift shop! Guests are being rerouted through an alternate exit for now.
Disney hasn’t shared how long Tomorrowland Light & Power Co. will be closed, and a Cast Member did inform us that this is a temporary closure since the area is being worked on — but they weren’t sure how long the doors of the store would remain shut.
We’ll keep an eye out for any updates on this situation, so be sure to stay tuned to DFB for the latest!
