It may not feel like it yet wherever you’re from, but the holiday season is in full swing!
Disney World already started putting up decorations (including the enormous Christmas tree in Magic Kingdom), holiday ride overlays are back, and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party starts soon. There are a lot of fun holiday festivities to enjoy in the parks, but the hotels are the stars of the holiday season with gorgeous decorations and giant gingerbread displays! We went to check on the biggest gingerbread display of them all and it has made quite a bit of progress!
On November 1st, we noticed that Disney started building the GIANT gingerbread house at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort! The main structure of the house went up pretty quickly and Cast Members were working quickly to build the life-size masterpiece.
We walked into the resort today to find that there was a lot of progress from the day before!
Now, Cast Members are adding all of the details to the house, including the individual shingles! When the house is fully open, the sweets shop inside typically sells gingerbread shingles from the house. How fun!
It takes so much time and effort to create this house, but the work definitely pays off!
We’ve got SHINGLES on the gingerbread house at the Grand Floridian! 🎄✨ The lobby also smells amazing 🤤 pic.twitter.com/p5YjfhilG8

There’s now an ingredients list out so guests know what exactly went into making all of the gingerbread used on the house. 1,050 pounds of honey?! That would make Winnie the Pooh very happy.
Here’s another look at the construction.
And don’t sleep on the view from upstairs! Cast members will continue to work on this masterpiece this week! pic.twitter.com/82m4ZOlEDY

We will keep checking back for updates on the gingerbread house. After adding these details, we imagine the next step is adding the finishing touches! Last year, the house had a 50th anniversary theme and since the 50th anniversary celebrations are still going on, it could have the same theme this year.
We even saw 50th anniversary touches at the Gingerbread Carousel at Disney’s Beach Club Resort! The theme over there this year is Disney Princesses — be sure to check it out!
There are SO many other things to do this holiday season including visiting EPCOT for the Festival of the Holidays, attending Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party in Magic Kingdom, or shopping for holiday merchandise!
We’ll continue to keep track of the gingerbread house construction and we’ll let you know when it’s done and open for business! Stay tuned to DFB and sign up for our newsletter to get the latest updates.
