It’s not often that rides close in Disney World, but today, a popular Magic Kingdom attraction is permanently closing.
Splash Mountain is closing to become Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, a new ride based on Disney’s The Princess and the Frog film. We saw some massive crowds at the ride earlier this weekend and we’ve been in Magic Kingdom today monitoring the crowds — so what are the wait times like for Splash Mountain on its closing day?
Yesterday, Splash Mountain had the highest wait time in the park at 120 minutes.
When Magic Kingdom opened at 9AM, the wait time was already up to 90 minutes.
By 9:45AM, the wait time was 145 minutes — over two hours.
By 10AM, no Lightning Lane times were available for Splash Mountain through Genie+ and the wait time had jumped up to 160 minutes.
Just five minutes later, the posted standby wait time was 150 minutes.
By 11AM, the wait time was 200 MINUTES!!! That’s over three hours!
At 1PM, the wait time was STILL 200 minutes.
Wait times continued to go up throughout the day. At 3PM, it was at 220 minutes — we’re getting close to the four-hour mark!

Disney has announced that Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will open in late 2024. We’ll be watching the Splash Mountain area once it closes to bring you construction updates on the new The Princess and the Frog-themed ride.
