It’s a holiday weekend in Disney World, and you know what that means.
It means a three-day vacation for a lot of people, which makes them think, “Hey, let’s go to Disney World.” That means you can expect crowds, getting advance dining reservations could be tricky, and Genie+ will cost a lot more due to surge pricing based on demand. Well, Genie+ DOES cost more today.
Over the past few weeks, Genie+ has been around $18 to $20 per person. Well, today, that’s gone up — by quite a bit. Today, Genie+ is $29 per person. Basically, that means Disney is expecting greater demand (due to more people in the parks) for the service.
This also means you can probably expect long standby lines today if you choose not to purchase Genie+. There are some strategies, though, you can use to shorten your wait times on a busy day. First, manage your expectations. Make a priority list of your must-do rides and focus on those.
You could also go in with a strategy to only ride those attractions with shorter wait times. You may end up discovering a new favorite ride. Also note that on busy days, the Individual Lightning Lane option for rides like Rise of the Resistance and Flight of Passage sell out early in the day (by the time we wrote this, they were gone).
A good time to hit up attractions is during nighttime shows, so skip fireworks and Fantasmic! and hop in those shorter lines. If you time it just right, you could end up on an outdoor ride DURING fireworks, which is fun and gives you a unique perspective during the show.
Or, of course, you could just go ahead and purchase Genie+ for you and your party and access those Lightning Lanes — ultimately, it’s up to you if it’s worth it. If you need to know more about Genie+, we’ve got a comprehensive guide here.
