Are you ready? Are you excited? It’s time for the EPCOT Flower and Garden Festival!
The 2023 EPCOT International Flower and Garden Festival is happening NOW in Disney World and we’re checking out everything the festival has to offer! We have a full list of the food at the festival, a look at the merchandise, a full lineup of concerts, and more. We visited some of EPCOT’s quick-service restaurants to try some new and exclusive eats — let’s head to Connections Cafe & Eatery!
Menu
Connections Cafe & Eatery are relatively new spaces at EPCOT that serve delicious quick-service food and coffee drinks each day, but there are some festival-exclusive options here for the Flower and Garden Festival! That includes a dessert which is a twist on their regular snack (the liege waffle) and a new alcoholic drink.
Let’s get into the details!
Eats
The Liege Waffle is a staple at this location, but for the Flower and Garden Festival, it gets an Orange Bird makeover! The Orange Bird Liege Waffle is brand new to the festival this year and you can grab it for $4.19.
It definitely gets points for style because it is ADORABLE. But in terms of flavor, it’s…well…kinda just your regular liege waffle. That’s not necessarily a “bad” thing because the liege waffle is one of our favorite breakfast-y treats in EPCOT thanks to that yummy brioche dough.
This Orange Bird version is covered on the sides with orange-colored white chocolate and sprinkles, making it fun for kids. But we feel like it was a seriously missed opportunity. The waffle didn’t have any kind of citrus or orange flavor, which for an ORANGE Bird-themed treat just seems like too big of a thing to have passed up!
Had it been dipped in an orange-flavored icing or had something else to give it a kick of citrus, we would have enjoyed it way more. But, for what it is, it’s fine and probably something kiddos and Orange Bird fans will really enjoy!
That’s the only snack here for the Festival, so let’s try the drink!
Drinks
EPCOT is full of delicious cocktails, but there’s a new one to try at Connections Cafe and Eatery! The Flower Drop Cocktail is made with St. Germaine Elderflower Liqueur, Tito’s Handmade Vodka, and Minute Maid Premium Lemonade. It will run you $13.50, so is it worth it?
Well, the drink is very sweet, which could be good or bad depending on what kind of drinks you like. It sort of reminded us of the Minute Maid Joy drink from Korea in Club Cool, which has apple and lychee notes.
We do feel like it could have used a stronger sense of sourness from the lemonade though. That would have helped balance the sweetness a bit. Also, the drink itself wasn’t very strong and you really couldn’t taste the Tito’s Vodka. Again, that could be good or bad depending on how you like your drinks! You could definitely taste the elderflower though, so if you don’t like that flavor, steer clear!
And that’s it for the Festival-exclusive eats from here!
OVERALL
Overall, the Orange Bird waffle has a fun design but isn’t terribly unique. If you want a “standard” liege waffle with a bit of extra decor on it, then this could be fun, especially if you’re an Orange Bird fan! The drink was sweet but could have used some more sourness. Overall, neither the drink nor the snack felt particularly unique, but if you love the flavors or design of them they might be something you’ll want to try!
