Well, we have some massive Epic Universe news – the park is about to get even bigger. Universal just filed a brand-new permit for a 71,500-square-foot structure at Epic Universe!
According to the Orlando Business Journal, Universal just filed a brand-new permit for a 71,500-square-foot structure at Epic Universe at 1001 Epic Blvd. The permit doesn’t include a project description, though records indicate the building’s category covers recreational, social, or sauna facilities.

Because of the building’s size, it will likely be a medium-sized attraction or a live entertainment venue. Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge is roughly 71,000 square feet, and The Untrainable Dragon show in the Isle of Berk spans around 70,000 square feet.

The contractor is Stantec Architecture, which is a frequent collaborator of Universal’s. In addition to this new project, it’s building project 915 in Celestial Park, a two-story multi-purpose event space. From their portfolio, we’re pretty sure that this new space will be a theater or a similar entertainment venue.

When we looked back at Epic Universe’s concept art, we saw that Dark Universe originally included a theater that didn’t make it into the final park. While we’re not sure what the show would entail, it fits within the permit’s square footage and aligns with Stantc Architecture’s theatrical background.
