After waiting years and years, we’re almost to the big day for TRON Lightcycle / Run!
The TRON-themed coaster has been in previews for Annual Passholders, Cast Members, and more, but the ride officially opens to the public on April 4th, 2023. We got to ride during previews where we showed you how the lockers work and helped answer some big questions about the ride. Now, Disney released more details about the merchandise we can expect along with TRON!
You know how the Tomorrowland Light and Power Co. gift shop has been closed for refurbishment? Well, now we know what the space will be used for!
Disney just announced a brand new interactive experience called TRON Identity Program. You’ll be able to customize a “Program” action figure that looks and sounds like you and an identity chip that will interact with other merchandise as well! This includes the Identity Discs and Remote Control Lightcycles.
Disney says you will “enter the Grid through a Grid Digitization Portal located in Tomorrowland Launch Depot”.Using Image Capture to scan your facial features, you’ll customize the action figure and then choose a helmet and body configuration. After that, you decide if you want to be an Enforcer, Combatant, Scout, or Heavy Sentry, and then choose a team color.
Once those decisions have been made, you’ll head to Command Input to record 6 lines of dialogue. Disney notes that it will take about 20 minutes to make these selections and then another 60 minutes for your figure to be ready. Disney has not announced pricing just yet, but we’ll be on the lookout for that! Annual Passholder discounts will not apply here.
This experience will require reservations and you can begin booking those on March 21st by visiting the Disney World website. It will open on April 4th along with TRON Lightcycle / Run!
Stay tuned for more — we’ll be covering everything on TRON’s opening day!
