EPCOT is changing in some big ways and it’s about to change even more.
We’ve already shared a first look at some new spaces coming to the park, an update on the Figment meet-and-greet, a sneak peek at the new fireworks coming to EPCOT, and a confirmation of the opening timeline for the new Moana attraction. But now we’ve got even more news!
According to Disney, EPCOT will become the “host” of the Disney100 Celebration at Disney World. Disney has shared that they’ll commemorate this big milestone “later this year.”
Disney has shared that guests will be able to celebrate this big anniversary at EPCOT in a few different ways. First, it appears guests will be able to meet Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse in their platinum attire. We’ve actually seen the characters in these looks out at Disneyland, but we’re looking forward to seeing them in Disney World too.
Guests can also celebrate the occasion by “snapping a selfie with a platinum sculpture of the one who started it all.” This seems to be a reference to the new Walt Disney statue coming to EPCOT. This is coming to the World Celebration area, which is set to be completed by late 2023.
And Disney has also indicated that you’ll be able to watch “Spaceship Earth illuminate the evenings with a special lighting design.” Disney had previously indicated that the Beacon of Magic transformation would be sticking around at EPCOT long after the 50th Anniversary is over, and it seems like that special nighttime look is what Disney is referencing. It sounds like those amazing lights on Spaceship Earth could feature a unique design to celebrate the Disney100 anniversary.
EPCOT is also in the process of getting a space that’ll change with the different festivals, a Mickey meet-and-greet, a Figment meet-and-greet, new fireworks, and a Moana attraction, so there’s a lot to look forward to! We’ll continue to look for more updates and let you know what we see.

If it’s going to be in Epcot does that mean it won’t be in Disneyland?. I hope it will still be there as have spent £1000s on a 3 week trip on that side of the states!.
