So MUCH is happening in Disney World. It sometimes feels like too much to try and keep track of all the progress happening around the parks and resorts!
Splash Mountain in Magic Kingdom is getting a makeover to become Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. New restaurants are being built at Disney’s BoardWalk and at Disney Springs. But we want to talk about the new Disney Vacation Club (DVC) villas coming to Disney’s Polynesian Resort, so let’s take a look at the progress on those!
When we last checked in, we were continuing to watch the progress of the buildings (yep, so far there are TWO buildings) moving onwards and upwards at the construction site for the new DVC villas. Here’s what it looked like a few weeks ago.
Well, those buildings just continue growing and growing taller.
These buildings seem to be expanding before our very eyes. Here you can see what might be a stairwell between these two parts of the building.
We’re also seeing a better idea of how the two buildings will be connected as more structures are completed between them.
Loads of pipes have also arrived on the site near one of the Polynesian’s existing buildings. As you can see, a LOT is going on here. This actually looks similar to what it looked like the last time we checked in. This land remains empty, so we don’t know what will go here.
There’s still a lot of work to be done. The villas aren’t expected to open until late 2024, but we do know that Disney has said that their theming will be “inspired by early concepts for Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort” while also honoring the existing themes at the Polynesian. We’re intrigued!
This addition will not just bring more rooms to the resort, though. The expansion will also bring some new recreational activities for guests AND new dining options (okay, we can’t WAIT to see what kind of restaurants we’ll be visiting here).
We’ll continue to keep an eye on construction progress here and keep you updated, so stay tuned to DFB for more!

So sad. The height of these buildings is an eyesore. Nothing on Poly property should have been taller than the Grand Ceremonial House.
Jo says
Aw, that’s sad to see. The best part of the Poly was the space, the calm and the feeling of having been transported to a magical island. High rise doesn’t really contribute to any of that. I’m not sure how well the resort’s amenities will cope with so many more people either without feeling suffocated.
Ken says
Looks like hotel rooms, not a Polynesian village resort.
