Director ANNOUNCED for Disney's 'Hocus Pocus 3'

We finally have more details about Hocus Pocus 3!

We’re learning all kinds of exciting news about movies that are coming to Disney+ and the best budget-friendly ways you can see all the Disney movies hitting the theater soon, but something else was just announced in the movie world that has fans of this cult classic film franchise all a buzz!

It’s no secret by now that Disney intends to launch another Hocus Pocus installment soon. Last week, it was announced that the Hocus Pocus 2 direct to Disney+ film has garnered enough praise and support that Disney is comfortable moving forward on another project. But the latest announcement is one that has us all giddy.

Much to our surprise, Hocus Pocus 2 set out and accomplished its goal of bridging quite the gap between the last time we saw the Sanderson Sisters in 1993 to now — almost two full decades prior. Now we’ve learned that part of the successful franchise team, the film’s director Anne Fletcher AND writer Jen D’Angelo, will be returning to the spellbinding franchise.

While fans of the original Hocus Pocus enjoyed seeing familiar faces on screen with Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy, and Sarah Jessica Parker reprising their respective roles as Winnifred, Mary, and Sarah Sanderson, we still don’t know for sure if they will also return for Hocus Pocus 3. We last left off in Hocus Pocus 2 with a new trio coven formed that assumedly would continue to carry the passed proverbial broom, err torch.

When asked in an interview earlier this year if she would be returning to reprise Winnie once more for the franchise, Midler simply responded, “I’m not sure.” We’re also left with questions about appearances from the original film’s other notable cast of characters like Omri Katz, Vinessa Shaw, and Jason Marsden, who were noticeably missing from Hocus Pocus 2. There’s also more to learn if this new film will be flying straight to streaming on Disney+ or have us scrambling to the silver screen for a bigger theatrical release.
