Disney World is home to countless character meals — but are they all the same?

The answer is a big ol’ “no” from us. In fact, there’s one character meal in Disney World that checks almost every box we’ve got — and we’re certainly not the only ones who think so. According to just about everyone, this character meal is practically perfect. 

Disney’s Wilderness Lodge is home to cozy cabin vibes, killer views, and easy access to Magic Kingdom. It’s also home to some stellar restaurants — like Artist Point. What makes this spot so special? It’s where you’ll find Storybook Dining with Snow White! Sure, you’ve probably been to Chef Mickey’s, and you’ve maybe even been to Be Our Guest and dined with Beauty and the Beast — but Storybook Dining with Snow White still stands out as a nearly perfect character meal.

We know what you’re probably thinking, “What could possibly be so much better about this one?” So strap in — we’ve got some things to discuss. 

The Food

At Artist Point, you can indulge in a prix-fixe meal that includes multiple appetizers to share, one entrée per person, and lots of shared desserts. Storybook Dining (and Artist Point in general) are only open for dinner, and like most character meals in Disney World, you’ll find yourself paying a good chunk of change per person. Currently, this meal is $65 per adult and $39 per kiddo (ages 3-9).

Character meals can be pricey, and we’ve often found ourselves disappointed in the quality of the food we’ve shelled out a lot of money for (we’re looking at you, Chef Mickey’s!) but that’s not the case here, with appetizers like Wild Mushroom Bisque, the Wicked Shrimp Cocktail, and Hunter’s Pie.

The Wild Mushroom Bisque is a tasty soup with crispy mushrooms inside. It’s super rich and creamy and there’s a little fried mushroom on top and an olive oil drizzle.

The Wicked Shrimp Cocktail is made with a bloody Mary vinaigrette, a seaweed salad, and a spiced house-made seasoning. If you don’t like tomatoes or a tiny bit of heat you might want to ask for the dressing on the side.

In the Hunter’s Pie, you’ll find turkey, chicken, black truffle, cranberry preserve, and crispy sauerkraut. This was also delicious! It had a nice meaty flavor that wasn’t too heavy, along with a flaky crust and a slight hint of truffle.

You have seven options for entrées, including “Cottage” Beef Stroganoff, A Stroll Through Nature, Brother’s Grimm Herb Chicken, Sorceress Spell of “Tricken” Chicken, Royal Prime Rib Roast, Magic Mirror’s Slow-braised Pork Shank, and Bashful’s Butter-poached Sustainable Fish.

Some of our favorites include A Stroll Through Nature — a vegetarian dish with gnocchi, asparagus, leeks, arugula, sage, and Parmesan, and the “Cottage” Beef Stroganoff, made with tender beef, preserved vegetables, Spatzle, mushrooms, and aged cow’s milk cheese.

The Royal Prime Rib Roast is also excellent, and is made with horseradish-mashed potato, a Yorkshire pudding, carrot, and jus — it’s probably the most bang for your buck in terms of entrees.

Dessert includes four different sweet treats. The table will get to try Miner’s Treasures (cookies ‘n’ cream panna cotta topped with chocolate gems and an edible chocolate Dopey hat), “Poison” Apple (dark chocolate-apple mousse with a sour apple center), a Fairy Tale Gooseberry Tart (meringue and gooseberry inside a tart shell), and The Hunter’s Gift to the Queen (four small treats that are presented to you in a smoke-filled wooden box).

Not only do you get a TON of food for the price — it’s also pretty, pretty, pretty good. Okay, it’s really good — and consistently so, too. It’s always been a big hit for us.

The Characters

But, this is a character meal after all — so who will you be dining with?! You can look forward to seeing Snow White…

…Dopey…

…and Grumpy stopping by throughout the dinner.

The Evil Queen is even present for a unique photo opportunity — just be sure you don’t get on her bad side. We’ve heard she can be pretty dramatic.

But, these are the only characters you’ll find at this meal, and if you’re not a huge Snow White fan that might be a dealbreaker. While this is a princess character experience, the only princess you’ll meet is Snow White, as opposed to places like Cinderella’s Royal Table or Akershus where you can see multiple princesses all at once.

Overall

We love Storybook Dining at Artist Point and we will shout it from the rooftops. For the price, especially compared to other prix fixe meals, it feels like more of a production, which is a nice thing. It’s not all-you-can-eat, but it is nicely plated food thoughtfully prepared with a touch of whimsy to it.

If you’re looking for a character dining experience and have any interest in the Snow White characters, we can’t recommend this meal enough. The food is great, the characters are unique, and it’s an entertaining experience for all ages — kids and adults alike. Go for a fancy date night or for a dinner or vacation with your whole family! It will certainly be a memorable meal.
