Even though we would like to experience EVERYTHING Disney World has to offer every trip, it’s a nearly impossible feat.
From its sheer size to limited seasonal offerings, Disney World challenges its guests with too much of a good time. For most, it takes MULTIPLE long trips to Disney World to experience everything the resort has to offer. Unfortunately, the challenge becomes even greater when you factor in closures.
Even when you plan that perfect Disney World trip, you are always susceptible to an ambush by closures and refurbishments. That’s where we can help! While closure dates aren’t always made available well in advance, here are a few ride and attraction closures you should be prepared for in 2024.
Magic Kingdom
Country Bear Jamboree
A NEW SHOW is coming to Country Bear Jamboree in Magic Kingdom! The beloved bears are learning an all-new act — they’ll sing their classic songs in NEW styles like country, rockabilly, and bluegrass.
Country Bear Musical Jamboree will be a take on the classic variety shows found in Nashville, Tennessee, and Nashville musicians are involved in the new arrangements. For instance. we’ll be hearing a new version of “Bare Necessities” in a rockabilly style! A Disney Imagineer has shared, “The music is going to be amazing, and the show will still have the fun and friendly tone that we all love about the Country Bears.”
And these changes are coming SOON… Country Bear Jamboree officially CLOSED on January 27th, 2024 for the refurbishment. Disney announced that the new show will make its debut THIS SUMMER.

Splash Mountain
This one is kind of a given, taking into account that Splash Mountain is permanently closed.
With that said, the mountain has undergone retheming changes and will reopen in the summer of 2024 as Tiana’s Bayou Adventure!
EPCOT
Test Track
On June 17th, Test Track, which is located in EPCOT’s World Discovery, will temporarily close so the ride can be — in Disney speak — reimagined!
Disney hasn’t released too many details about what the updated ride experience will be like just yet, but they did mention that it will take inspiration from World of Motion, the ride that was originally there when the park opened in 1982! At this time, a reopening timeline has not been announced, but we’ll keep you posted!

Frozen Ever After
Frozen Ever After is one of the most popular rides in EPCOT, which is why it’s especially important to give you a heads up on a closure this fall.
Be aware that Frozen Ever After will be closed for a short time later this year, from November 2nd through November 6th, 2024.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Mickey Shorts Theater
The Mickey Shorts Theater is set to close for a temporary refurbishment SOON. Opened in 2020, the Mickey Shorts Theater is home to Vacation Fun, an original short that features Mickey and Minnie with clips from Panda-monium, Couples Sweaters, Potatoland, Croissant de Triomphe, Entombed, Dumb Luck, Al Rojo Vivo, Yodelburg, and Outback at Ya!.
The Disney World refurbishment calendar now shows the Mickey Shorts Theater will be closed from April 29th until May 25th, 2024.
Voyage of the Little Mermaid
Disney announced in December 2023 that a NEW show — “The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure” — is coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Fall 2024! The new show will be a reimagined show inspired by the original animated classic from Walt Disney Animation Studios.
However, be aware that –with the announcement of the new production, it’s also been confirmed that Voyage of the Little Mermaid is permanently closed in Disney World.
Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith
Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster in Hollywood Studios is a fun, fast-paced coaster that features music (and a pre-ride show) by Aerosmith. As of January 8th, 2024, the ride has closed for a lengthy refurbishment.
Though a specific reopening date has not yet been announced, the Disney World website states that the popular attraction will reopen in summer 2024.
Water Park Rides
The Disney World water parks have been operating as a one-on, one-off package for a while now and that is expected to continue into 2024.
Right now, Typhoon Lagoon is open while Blizzard Beach is closed. It goes without saying (but we’ll say it anyway) that when one water park is closed, those rides and attractions will be completely inaccessible during your trip.
Outdoor Rides During Inclement Weather
Bad weather doesn’t always ruin a Disney World Trip. After all, storms in Central Florida are fairly commonplace. However, sometimes it can get so bad that Disney has to take action and close outdoor attractions.
If you find yourself at Disney World during hurricane season or in the middle of a lightning storm, you should expect ride complications during your trip. This is not only a 2024 tip, but a general rule of thumb for years to come.
Other Possible Closures
The 2023 Destination D23 event announced A TON of potential upcoming changes, and while we don’t have official dates for any of the following attractions, you should know it is possible that the refurbishments and closures of these attractions could begin in 2024.
One of these rides includes DINOSAUR over at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. DinoLand U.S.A. is already being phased out and Disney hinted that an all-new Indiana Jones attraction could arrive in Animal Kingdom, possibly replacing DINOSAUR.
This next Animal Kingdom attraction change is certain to happen, it’s just a matter of when. It’s Tough to be a Bug! is getting replaced with a NEW Zootopia show at some point, and that could be as early as 2024. The new show is expected to be filled with humor and action while taking the audience through the different biomes from the movie.
