OK, be honest. Are six desserts too many for one sitting?
The 2024 EPCOT Festival of the Holidays has officially begun, and there is a lot to offer. There are plenty of food booths with tasty items, merchandise items to grab (of course), and even concerts to watch. But don’t let it overwhelm you. We’ve got you covered with everything you need to know. And now we’re heading to one spot in particular — the Holiday Hearth Desserts — to give you the FULL scoop! Is it worth a try? Let’s find out!
Menu
Over at the Holiday Hearth Desserts, your sweet tooth will thank you. We’re looking at a TON of returning sweet treat classics, but all with that little holiday tinsel that makes them festive.
Now that we’ve taken a look at the menu, let’s dive into the food itself!
Eats
First up, we tried the returning Apple Caramel Crumb Cake for $5. We had this treat last year, and ohhhhhhh, goodness, this thing was SO GOOD. This was one of the best festival treats we’ve ever had, and it made our Best of the Fest list last year! It was like the soft, gooey center of the best apple crumble you’ve ever had in your life. Perfectly balanced with sweet and butter from the crumble, the drizzle of caramel and icing on top was an iconic addition. Does this year’s version live up to the hype from our memories of last year?

This thing is so bomb. It’s probably one of our favorite festival desserts of the entire year. It’s such a moist and airy cake — kind of like a coffee cake. The cinnamon apples reminded us of Cracker Barrel cinnamon apples — so soft and delicious but still with the perfect snap to them. The apple flavor gets all in the cake and it’s the perfect amount of cinnamon and drizzled with the caramel.
Next, is the (also returning) Chocolate-covered Toffee Brittle for$4.50. Last year, we were disappointed with this one. It was so tough (like chip-your-tooth tough!). We couldn’t even break it apart. And when we were finally able to get a bite, a big slab of toffee got stuck in our teeth. It was pretty hard to chew, and the toffee flavor wasn’t even that prominent.
Now on to the Salted Caramel Spaceship Earth Cookie for $5.50. This one has been around for a few years. And it’s been consistently good. Delicious and buttery and even made our “Best of the Fest” list a couple of years ago. Yes. This thing is SO GOOD. It’s the perfect mixture of a not-too-sweet sugar cookie and gooey salted caramel in the middle. The best part of this cookie for us is the giant pieces of sugar on top. It’s sweet and Christmassy without being overwhelmingly so. Is it still good in 2024?
The Spaceship Earth Cookie is unmatched in vibes because it is literally a Spaceship Earth cookie covered in that beautiful white sugar. There’s the gorgeous little holly berry decoration. The inside is salted caramel but it is not overly sticky and it’s not overly salted. It is just a perfectly balanced cookie — it’s crumbly and you’ve got the sugar on top to sweeten it up. Obviously, the caramel is sweet, but again, it doesn’t get stuck in your teeth. This has a beautiful balanced flavor. It’s so creamy and delicious in the middle of the two cookies. Just a real winner as holiday cookies go.
Moving on to our next sugary indulgence. The Mouse Crunch is made with M&M’S chocolate candies for $6.50. This snack is a mix of popcorn, chocolate pretzels, and M&M’s, and we loved it in past years. We love this because it’s a great take-home option that can double as a souvenir to enjoy at home. It’s your typical sweet and salty snack mix, but it was more on the sweet side for sure.
Are you ready? Is your camera ready? Buckle up, it’s time for the Red Velvet Mini Bundt Cake with Cream Cheese Icing for $5. First of all, we need to talk about the fact that this is one of the most adorably festive desserts we’ve ever seen.
This is a returning favorite. It’s moist, light, and delicious with two types of frosting — cream cheese and a basic vanilla icing. It’s pretty basic overall, but it’s a fun and tasty dessert we’d get again. If you like red velvet, you’ll probably enjoy this, though it isn’t the BEST red velvet cake we’ve ever had.
Rounding out our cavity line-up is Mint Chocolate Mousse Wreath for $5.25. This was new last year and is returning this year. Last year, this was super, super minty, and the chocolate mousse had chocolate chips in it, which, to us, gave off mint chocolate chip ice cream vibes — and we certainly weren’t upset about that.
This year, the mint was completely overpowering. We missed out on the chocolate in this, and the graham cracker didn’t help tame down the mint flavor. Mint was everywhere, in the mouse and in the frosting. We would have loved getting another flavor to help the mint like we had in the one last year. You really have to like mint to enjoy this dessert!
And now, onto the drinks!
Drinks
In terms of drinks at this booth, we got the non-alcoholic Frozen Caramel Hot Chocolate with TWIX cookie bar pieces and whipped cream. YUM. You can get this drink for $5.25. Last year, this was SUPER sweet — like overly sweet. It had a LOT of caramel flavor, so it basically tasted like straight sugar. It would probably be good for kiddos and folks with a serious sweet tooth.
There’s also the Cocoa Candy Cane for $12.50. This is Joffrey’s Hot Cocoa with Peppermint Schnapps. When we had it last year, we thought it was such a fun take on hot cocoa! The peppermint added a nice touch and the Schnapps was a nice addition as well — not overly strong.
There are three beers available here: the Wicked Weed Brewing Jack Frost IPA, BrewDog Winter Staycation Pecan & Toffee Stout, and the Wicked Weed Brewing Milk & Cookies Imperial Milk Stout with a flight option for $10.25.
The Jack Frost IPA almost screams bitter grapefruit to us. There is nothing sweet about this; it is really just bitter grapefruit. If you like grapefruit, this is a beer you gotta taste!
The pecan & toffee stout was good, but the flavors didn’t really go together well in this beer (even though in theory they should have). We strangely tasted one flavor in one sip and the other flavor in another sip. That shouldn’t have happened since it all came out of the same spout, but the flavors just never seemed the blend for us.
The milk & cookies imperial milk stout was our last beer in the flight, and it was not great. We taste more coffee and toffee instead of milk and cookies. It’s thick and heavy and does not give us milk and cookies in any way.
You can get a single pour of each of these beers instead of the flight if you wish! You can get a 6 oz. pour for $5.75 or 12 oz. for $9.75.
OVERALL
If you’re after a TON of holiday cookies, sweets, and even sweet drinks — the Holiday Hearths booth is definitely worth a stop! Plus, you can meet Santa in here so it’s really a win-win! We loved the Spaceship Earth cookie and the Apple Crumb Cake yet again this year, so if you like sweets this is definitely the booth for you.
