Disney World is making A LOT of changes right now, especially in their theme parks.
We don’t want you to be met with any surprises during your trip, so we’re here to tell you about the attractions that will be closed for refurbishment in October. Don’t worry, there are only four of them…but one of them is a WHOLE park!
Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress
Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress in the Magic Kingdom has been closed for refurbishment since the beginning of July, and it will continue to be closed through 2027. This show is getting an update with new scenes from the 1960s, 1980s, the new millennium, and a possible future. The pre-show of this attraction will include a Walt Disney Audio Animatronic. At this year’s D23 Expo, Disney announced that Bryan Cranston and Jamie Lee Curtis will be voicing the roles of Father and Mother, respectively. The attraction is slated to open in late spring 2027.
Disney’s Carousel of Progress Changes Are Going To Be Better Than We Thought
Walt Disney World Railroad
The Walt Disney World Railroad, which makes stops at Main Street, U.S.A., Frontierland, and Fantasyland, will be closed for routine maintenance for most of October. While the My Disney Experience app has it listed to reopen sometime in November 2026, the attraction has hours listed starting on October 30th. We’ll keep you updated if Disney reveals a specific reopening date.

Slush Gusher at Blizzard Beach
One of Blizzard Beach Water Park’s slides will be closed for refurbishment in September. This is a 90-foot, high-speed waterslide in the shadow of Summit Plummet. The two rolling hills are bound to give you an invigorating lift on the way down! While this slide is closed, other attractions around Blizzard Beach will remain operational.
Typhoon Lagoon vs. Blizzard Beach – Disney World Water Parks Showdown
Typhoon Lagoon Water Park
Throughout October and the following months, Typhoon Lagoon Water Park will be closed for refurbishment. Disney has yet to announce a reopening date for the park, but they encourage guests to visit their other water park, Blizzard Beach, during this time.
