BIG changes have been unveiled at Magic Kingdom‘s flagship merchandise store!
A while back, we noticed that construction walls had popped up inside the Emporium — seemingly out of nowhere. Cast Members told us that the store was undergoing a bit of a refresh and would be back to tip-top shape soon, and now it looks like that time has come. Let’s check out what’s changed at this Disney World spot!
Things are looking nice and roomy inside this store, which is a good thing since the Emporium tends to get pretty packed on and off throughout the day.
As of now, there are markings on the floor delineating a queue for the registers in this section. We anticipate this is a temporary solution and something more permanent will be added here in the near future.
We also noticed that some of the flooring had been replaced!
Previously, there were hardwood floors in this area of the store, but quite a bit of that has been replaced with lighter-colored tiles. This section is the furthest part of the Emporium that stretches into Magic Kingdom, near Casey’s Corner. There are still a few smaller construction walls up in the store, but nothing like what it looked like just days ago!
These aren’t the only updates taking place in Magic Kingdom right now. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad will be closed for at least a year for an update. Tom Sawyer Island and Rivers of America are also about to be completely reimagined into a new Cars expansion in Frontierland. But wait…there’s more! That’s because a new Villains-themed land is coming to the area behind Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, too.
We’re expecting just a few more changes to pop up in the Emporium — like additional flooring changes — but we’ll let you know when that happens!
In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for the latest updates from Magic Kingdom and the rest of Disney World. Make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for more news!
