Something BIG happened last night in Magic Kingdom…and it has nothing to do with the construction at Big Thunder Mountain Railroad or the construction BEHIND Big Thunder Mountain Railroad or the construction in Frontierland.
Nope, last night a new nighttime parade made its debut in Magic Kingdom TWO DAYS EARLY. Yes, Disney gave us an early look at the new parade, Disney Starlight: Dream The Night Away, last night, and so many folks are hoping they’ll do it again tonight that Annual Passholders have taken up all the park pass reservations in Disney World for the day.
Disney World Annual Passholders have taken up all the park pass reservations for all four parks for today. There are NO park pass reservations left. This comes after Disney Starlight’s early soft opening last night and the fact that park pass reservations for July 20th (the parade’s official opening night) and 21st in Magic Kingdom are completely gone.
Now, normally, if Annual Passholders visited Magic Kingdom after 2 PM on any given day, they would not need park pass reservations. But that rule is temporarily changing on July 20th, when a park pass reservation will be required to visit Magic Kingdom, regardless of the time of day. With Disney Starlight officially opening on July 20th, this is Disney’s way of controlling crowds heading to Magic Kingdom to see the new parade.
So there could be some Annual Passholders hoping to catch Disney Starlight this evening. But Disney has not confirmed that the parade would run again tonight, so there’s no guarantee you’ll get to see it until its official opening day tomorrow, July 20th.
There’s another reason, though, that could be in play here. The reimagined Test Track in EPCOT has been having early previews for Annual Passholders, and today is the last day for that. Likely, it’s a combination of both of these things, plus it being a weekend.
Regardless, Disney World might be a bit crowded today, so plan accordingly. Stay tuned to DFB for more.
