Disney Springs is full of different dining options — some of them are more on the generic side, while others are more adventurous.
Salt & Straw made its debut in Disney World in April 2022 after being a beloved offering in Disneyland since 2018. We got word that there were some new toppings available here, as well as a new flavor, so you know we headed over immediately to give them a try. As it turns out, we’re officially convinced that Salt & Straw can do NO wrong!
Salt & Straw isn’t just any ice cream shop — they specialize in some of the most unique flavors you’ve ever heard of, and we’ll be the first to admit that sometimes we’ve been a little afraid to try them in the past! Recently, we stopped by to grab two new offerings, the first being a Single scoop of Strawberry Honey Balsamic with Black Pepper Strawberry Shortcake Waffle Cone Bowl for $9.65 total (the waffle bowl was a $2.15 upgrade).
They’ve taken freeze-dried strawberries and crunched them into this waffle batter, and it’s INCREDIBLE. The strawberry flavor is in both the ice cream and the cone is nice and light, perfect for summer. Due to the black pepper, the cone has a low heat to it that’s almost the same level as ground pepper, but we promise, it WORKS. We’d get it again for sure!
Second, we grabbed a Double scoop in a waffle cone of Birthday Cakes and Blackberries topped with Oregon Marionberry Coulis and Candied Cocoa Nibs for $13.90 (both toppings were $0.75 each).

The ice cream itself was great, even though we were a little nervous how it would mix — it was that classic birthday cake flavor with blackberries that were very fresh. So much so that you could even taste the seeds popping in your mouth when you bit into them!
As for the toppings, the Oregon Marionberry Coulis was more like a runny syrup, and had more of an elderberry flavor to it — it wasn’t super tart, but also wasn’t overly sweet. The Candied Cocoa Nibs tasted very similar to dark chocolate in a way. They were more on the bitter side and aren’t sweet at all, so you likely wouldn’t want to eat them alone. However, with the sweetness of the ice cream, they work really well! Again, we’d totally get it again, and can’t wait to try more toppings.
