On Tuesday, July 29th, a fire started at Universal Orlando’s Islands of Adventure.
According to News 6, a tree was struck by lightning near the queue for Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey.
The Orlando Fire Department arrived at the scene around 7:30 PM and cleared the area about 30 minutes later. There were no reported injuries. Videos have been posted online about the fire and how close it was to the queue. It’s near the herbology classroom in the outdoor garden.

One poster said they saw the lightning hit, followed by “the loudest boom,” and about 60 seconds later, the fire alarm came on, and everyone evacuated.

In EPCOT, earlier this year, there was a fire in the France Pavilion, which caused Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure to be evacuated. There were also no reported injuries. Both fires were under control very quickly with minimal damage.
Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey used to be one of the most popular attractions at Universal Orlando and was the first Harry Potter attraction to open in 2010. As of the next morning, the attraction is open and operating as usual, causing no major damage from the fire.
The attraction is located in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter — Hogsmeade and was the original area before Diagon Alley and The Ministry of Magic opened in Universal Orlando and Epic Universe.
