A Popular EPCOT Attraction Is Closing for Refurbishment This Month

If you’re headed to EPCOT soon, you need to know about this popular ride’s closure!

We’ve been going to Disney World on a daily basis for years, so closures are nothing new in our book. While they might not be new, they can mess up your vacation plans if they catch you off guard, so here’s your reminder about a big EPCOT closure starting soon.

If you’re a fan of EPCOT classic attractions like us, Spaceship Earth is probably “a must-do” when you’re hitting the park. This ride is inside the park’s icon, and it’s the first ride many people hit up as soon as they’re in the park. Beginning on August 25th, the famous attraction is closing for refurbishment!

This classic attraction will be closed for an undisclosed amount of time, but Disney did confirm the ride will open “later this year.” We’re hoping this closure won’t last too long, as fans of the attraction. We aren’t anticipating many major changes to the attraction outside of regular updates.

This ride closure joins many ongoing projects around Walt Disney World! Over in Magic Kingdom, Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin is closed until 2026 for major changes coming to the attraction. Magic Kingdom is also currently working on the addition of Piston Peak, which is a Cars-inspired land coming to the park.

In Hollywood Studios, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster will be changing from Aerosmith to the Muppets in 2026! Disney hasn’t confirmed an official closing date for this popular coaster, but they did confirm the Muppets will be taking over next year. In the same park, they’re currently building Monsters, Inc. Land, which doesn’t have an opening timeline at the moment.

Finally, Animal Kingdom is the park that really kicked off all of the construction fun with the addition of Pueblo Esperanza! This new land is replacing DinoLand U.S.A. and will feature new rides inspired by Encanto and Indiana Jones. They’re also adding a brand-new Zootopia show, which is opening in Winter 2025.
